Student Programs

If all of your business and technical knowledge has come from books, your world of knowledge could use a dose of reality. Nothing beats the opportunity to put book knowledge to the test.

That’s where our student programs come in. It’s all about learning the business and the technology from the inside out.

Summer intern program

Hands-on experience working full time during summer break will not only enrich your bank account, it will develop you as a person and your career. Our summer intern program lets you build a network of friends and contacts, have fun, learn valuable skills and see what Ford Motor Company is all about!

Preferred candidates have exceptional leadership and communication skills and have completed the sophomore year of an undergraduate program or the first year of a graduate program. Most opportunities are for students in business and technical fields, but students in other disciplines are sometimes considered.

More than a job

Your work will be measurable and realistic, and allow you to stretch your ability. To help you evaluate your own growth, you will receive a mid-term and final performance evaluation. To give you practice interacting with managers and demonstrating your business acumen, you will present your work project to a panel of managers in your organization. Best of all, our program ensures meaningful assignments that will give you a sense of accomplishment.

People who excel in this program may be invited to return the following year or receive an offer of full-time employment in our Ford College Graduate program.

Co-op Program

Our Cooperative Education Program helps you develop valuable experience and try out your classroom knowledge while alternating semesters between school and work. To ensure valuable, relevant assignments, you'll follow an individual work plan developed with your mentor to apply your skills on the job. Meanwhile, you earn a salary that reflects your educational training.

Preferred candidates have exceptional leadership and communication skills and have been authorized by their school's cooperative education office to participate in an experiential learning experience.

For students whose home address is at least 50 miles from the work location, we provide a housing allowance at the beginning of each work term.

At the end of your co-op program, you may be offered a full-time position in our Ford College Graduate program. Because your orientation and preliminary training are complete, you'll have a head start on your career.
