We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team responsible for building, delivering, and supporting technology products and services powered by Ford’s SAP S/4HANA platform. This people-leader role owns the product and solution lifecycle from roadmap and requirements through functional specification, design, implementation, release, and production support.
The ideal candidate brings strong experience with SAP S/4HANA Sales and Distribution (SD) and end-to-end Order-to-Cash (O2C) processes, along with automotive industry knowledge. The manager will lead the functional specification team and work closely with business stakeholders to translate business needs into clear requirements, functional designs, and a delivery roadmap. You will guide solution and integration decisions, develop a high-performing team, and drive dependable delivery, platform reliability, and continuous improvement.
Team Leadership
- Lead, manage, and mentor a team of engineers, analysts, and SAP professionals, including the functional specification team.
- Organize the team around effective areas of ownership, as needed.
- Set clear performance expectations, hold regular one-on-ones, and support career growth and development.
- Build a team culture centered on accountability, collaboration, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Manage hiring, onboarding, capacity planning, and resource allocation.
Delivery and Production Ownership
- Own end-to-end delivery, including planning, prioritization, resourcing, dependency management, and removal of blockers.
- Lead production support for SAP products and integrations, including incident response, root-cause analysis, and resolution of production issues.
- Establish and monitor operational measures for service reliability, process performance, and support responsiveness.
- Track delivery risks, timelines, dependencies, and technical debt; communicate and escalate issues proactively.
- Lead Agile/Scrum ceremonies and improve delivery and support practices.
Product, Functional, and SAP Solution Ownership
- Own the roadmap and solution direction for SAP S/4HANA capabilities supporting Sales and Distribution and Order to Cash.
- Lead the functional specification team, ensuring specifications are clear, complete, traceable to business requirements, and ready to guide solution design, development, testing, and deployment.
- Work closely with business stakeholders to understand processes, define requirements, prioritize enhancements, and align on outcomes.
- Facilitate working sessions with business and technical teams to resolve process questions, assess impacts, and agree on scope and acceptance criteria.
- Translate business needs into functional specifications, epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria that align with SAP S/4HANA capabilities, SD, and end-to-end O2C processes.
- Partner with business teams to understand and improve processes spanning relevant O2C activities, such as sales order management, pricing, delivery, billing, and invoicing.
- Guide solution design and technical decisions involving SAP S/4HANA, SD configuration, extensions, interfaces, and integrations with connected enterprise systems.
- Promote scalable, secure, reliable, and supportable solutions through design reviews, testing, and sound release practices.
- Identify opportunities to simplify processes, improve data quality, automate work, and strengthen platform performance.
Stakeholder Management
- Serve as a primary connection between the engineering and functional teams and business stakeholders, including sales, order management, finance, supply chain, manufacturing, and IT.
- Align stakeholders on requirements, priorities, scope, delivery timing, and trade-offs.
- Provide regular updates to leaders and partners on roadmap progress, delivery status, production health, and risks.
- Coordinate with architecture, cybersecurity, infrastructure, integration, and other cross-functional teams to deliver cohesive solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of experience in SAP delivery, engineering leadership, product delivery, or a related discipline.
- 2+ years demonstrated experience leading teams, including people management, coaching, performance development, and resource planning.
- Hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA, MUST HAVE Sales and Distribution (SD) and Order-to-Cash processes.
- Experience delivering and supporting enterprise SAP solutions across their lifecycle, including production support and incident management.
- Understanding of SAP solution design, configuration, extensions, and integration patterns.
- Experience working directly with business stakeholders to define priorities, clarify requirements, and manage expectations.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum or similar delivery environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Automotive industry experience, including familiarity with automotive sales, order management, fulfillment, or related business processes.
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA transformation, implementation, migration, or large-scale modernization programs.
- Experience integrating SAP with dealer, manufacturing, supply chain, finance, or other enterprise systems.
- Familiarity with SAP integration technologies and approaches, such as APIs, middleware, and event-based integration.
- Experience leading functional analysts or functional-specification teams and translating business needs into functional designs and delivery requirements.
- Experience with the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and cloud-based enterprise solutions.
- Familiarity with architecture, including service design, APIs, integration patterns, and distributed systems.
- Experience managing distributed or hybrid teams and coordinating delivery across multiple business and technology groups.
- Familiarity with production support frameworks, ITIL, or SRE practices.
