Recruiting Process
Someone contacted me about a job and said they were from Ford. How do I know this isn't a scam?
- Check the email address and make sure the account is from @ford.com. We will always contact you from an "@ford.com" email address. If you suspect someone is impersonating a Ford employee, ask them to email you.
- A Ford recruiter may contact you to discuss possible jobs, but we will never make a job offer until you apply for the job through www.careers.ford.com.
- We will never charge you money at any step of the application or interview process and we do not work with consultants or services who do.
- We will never ask you for your financial information during the application or interview process.
Can I apply for positions in other countries?
Every country has different laws and regulations regarding work authorization and visas. As a non-citizen you may apply to positions in countries where you are authorized to work or who may provide sponsorship. All U.S. positions posted indicate whether they offer visa sponsorship or not.
How do I find out about U.S. skilled trades opportunities?
Open positions are posted on the Ford Careers site. All candidates must have completed a bona fide apprenticeship program, or have either eight years of previous experience or a combination of previous work experience and training equivalent to a bona fide apprenticeship program. Current Ford employees can get more information on applying to apprenticeship programs at their work site.
Does the hiring process include a drug screen?
Depending on the position, a pre-employment drug screen for certain substances may be required. Positions in manufacturing facilities or those included in collective bargaining agreements are examples of positions that may require a drug test for certain substances. If you have questions about a specific position, please talk to a Talent Acquisition team member.
As an applicant with a disability, how do I get more information?

We will return only those inquiries requesting online application assistance for those individuals with a disability.
Is Ford using AI in the hiring process?
We’re always looking for ways to make our application process more efficient and candidate-friendly. We may use automated tools to support activities such as organizing applications, matching skills to job requirements, scheduling, or helping recruiters manage application volume. Our goal is to use technology responsibly to help us quickly and fairly connect the right people with the right opportunities.
How does AI impact my application or my chances of getting a job?
Our AI tools are designed to be a helping hand, not a barrier. These tools help recruiters organize applications and identify skills or experiences that may align with specific roles. They are intended to support recruiter decision-making — not replace it. To support fairness, we regularly test and monitor these tools for accuracy and bias to help ensure candidates receive an equitable experience. Applications are not automatically rejected solely by AI tools without human involvement in the hiring process.
Is AI used to decide who gets hired?
No. At Ford, people hire people. While AI and automated tools may help organize applications or highlight relevant qualifications, they do not make final hiring decisions. Every final decision is made by a human recruiter or hiring manager who thoughtfully evaluates each candidate’s qualifications, experiences, and potential. We believe human oversight is essential to building a diverse and talented team.
Should I use AI to write or improve my resume?
Candidates are welcome to use AI tools to help structure, polish, or proofread their resumes. These tools can be valuable resources for presenting experience clearly and professionally. However, candidates should carefully review the final result to ensure it accurately reflects their skills, experiences, accomplishments, and authentic voice. Candidates remain responsible for ensuring all submitted information is accurate and truthful.
