In this position...

The Product Development Engineer will provide engineering design and release support for Ford Racing Parts engine and powertrain programs. Define component and system requirements, develop specifications, oversee CAD models and prints, and manage release documentation. Plan and support dynamometer and physical testing, analyze results, and provide hardware-informed input to calibration development. Coordinate with internal engineering teams, suppliers, and external partners, track project progress, and ensure deliverables meet Ford engineering standards and program requirements.

What you'll do...

  • Develop and maintain engineering foundation documents, including FMAs, boundary and interface diagrams, interface listings, P-diagrams, DFMEAs, robustness checklists, and SCCAFs.
  • Define requirements and specifications; develop and execute DVPs, lead compliance to Ford requirements, and provide required engineering sign-offs.
  • Lead design, release, and change activities for engine assemblies, long-blocks, components, and accessories, including WERS releases, part-number management, CAD/print oversight, and final release documentation.
  • Create and maintain accessory bills of materials across vehicle lines, and complete carryover assessments using applicable Ford systems and tools.
  • Plan and support dynamometer, in-vehicle, bench, and other physical testing; coordinate test cells and instrumentation, troubleshoot hardware, and document results.
  • Analyze performance, durability, and failure-mode data; identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support calibration development, driveline and interfacing-commodity engineering, and dealer service inquiries related to accessories.
  • Coordinate suppliers, core teams, program management, planning, vehicle programs and operations, engineering teams, and external partners.
  • Investigate and develop new product opportunities, and coordinate cost, feasibility, and timing activities for projects.
  • Track project status, proactively resolve issues, and ensure deliverables comply with Ford standards, processes, and FRP requirements.
  • Perform other related engineering duties as assigned.

You'll have...

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of progressive automotive engineering experience focused on engine or powertrain development, testing, and release.
  • 3+ years of experience with engine and component design and release, including requirements and specification development, release documentation, part-number management, supplier coordination, and CAD/print review.
  • 2+ years of experience planning, executing, and supporting dynamometer testing, including test-cell coordination, calibration support, data acquisition, and test-data analysis.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with in-vehicle and bench testing, instrumentation planning, and hardware troubleshooting.
  • 2+ years of experience supporting vehicle calibration development, including performance and environmental testing.

Even better, you may have...

  • Master’s degree in engineering or related field
  • 8+ years of progressive automotive engineering experience focused on engine or powertrain development, testing, and release.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, project-coordination, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver accurate, high-quality engineering documentation on schedule.
  • Familiarity with Ford’s modern production engine architectures, including Coyote.
  • Familiarity with Ford’s drivelines, including transmissions, axles, and driveshafts.
  • Experience supporting Ford Racing Parts programs or similar performance-parts engineering work.
  • Experience with Ford engineering processes, tools, and methodologies, such as FPDS, Ford testing protocols, JIRA, and EDMS.
