The Advanced Robotics Simulation Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and validating high-fidelity virtual environments and robotic simulation platforms. This role focuses on bridging the gap between simulated and real-world robotic deployment through automated simulation pipelines, reinforcement learning frameworks, ROS2 integration, and GPU-accelerated infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in robotics software development, simulation technologies, and modern AI-based robot training methodologies. The role requires close collaboration with hardware, controls, and software engineering teams to improve robotic performance and accelerate development cycles.
Simulation Development & Architecture
- Design, develop, and maintain high-fidelity robotic simulation environments using NVIDIA Isaac Sim and Isaac Lab.
- Build and optimise sensor and actuator simulation pipelines for virtual testing and validation.
- Develop scalable frameworks for robotic experimentation and performance evaluation.
Robot Learning & AI Training
- Implement and optimise physics-based reinforcement learning (RL) workflows using Isaac Gym and related frameworks.
- Leverage robotics foundation models, including NVIDIA GR00T, to accelerate robot learning and autonomy development.
- Evaluate and improve model performance through iterative training and validation.
Middleware Integration
- Develop, configure, and troubleshoot Robot Operating System 2 (ROS2) interfaces.
- Ensure seamless communication and synchronisation between simulation environments and physical robotic systems.
- Support simulation-to-hardware control mapping and system integration activities.
Automation & Scripting
- Develop modular and maintainable Python tools for simulation automation.
- Automate Universal Scene Description (USD) asset import, scene generation, testing workflows, and domain randomisation processes.
- Improve development efficiency through reusable automation frameworks.
Virtualisation & DevOps
- Build and maintain containerised simulation environments using Docker and related technologies.
- Deploy and scale GPU-accelerated simulation workloads across local and cloud-based infrastructure.
- Support continuous integration and deployment practices for simulation environments.
Sim-to-Real Enablement
- Collaborate with hardware and controls teams to reduce the gap between simulated and real-world robot performance.
- Perform system identification, sensor noise modelling, and simulation calibration.
- Validate simulation accuracy through physical testing and performance benchmarking.
Education
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
Experience
- 3 to 7 years of experience in robotics engineering, simulation platform development, robotic software engineering, or related fields.
Required Skills
- Strong programming experience in Python.
- Hands-on experience with NVIDIA Isaac Sim and/or Isaac Lab.
- Experience with Robot Operating System 2 (ROS2).
- Knowledge of reinforcement learning concepts and robotic simulation workflows.
- Experience with Docker and containerised application deployment.
- Understanding of robotic sensors, actuators, and control systems.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Isaac Gym and large-scale RL training.
- Exposure to NVIDIA GR00T or robotics foundation models.
- Experience deploying workloads on cloud-based GPU infrastructure.
- Familiarity with Sim-to-Real methodologies and robotic system validation.
