Site STA Engineer Role is primarily a Supplier Development Role. The role needs the individual to Travel to Supplier Site locations around 70% of work time.
Key activities of the Site STA Engineer
- New Suppliers Assessment
- Existing Suppliers Assessment for Quality & Program Risk
- Capacity Analysis of Suppliers' Manufacturing Setup & initiate appropriate actions to meet Ford's Volume Requirements
- Drive APQP, PPAP activities for New Model Programs at Supplier sites
- Improve Suppliers' Performance - Quality, Delivery, Warranty to meet Ford's Quality Operating System Requirement.
- Conduct onsite evaluation visits for Priority commodities / suppliers for new programs
- Identify Risk elements at New Supplier sites based on the Product Engineering, Program Management, Process Engineering, Sub Supplier Management, Quality Operating System, Field Warranty issues and Delivery performance.
- Drive Flawless Launches at assigned supplier sites, collaborating with
Launch STA team -Ex: Program Time line Management, APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning), PPAP (Production Part Approval
Process), Supplier Quality Issues resolution. Escalate significant issues
promptly and ‘date to green’ plan to appropriate management - Support Capacity studies interfacing with suppliers and Ford cross-functional
teams based on Capacity Analysis Report. Review supplier incremental tooling work plans compliance to PPAP. - Drive Supplier Process capacity issues resolution as needed – Production
constraint risk mitigation working with Ford and Supplier teams and manage “date to green” plan - Monitor supply status of 24/7 roster suppliers and monitor Ramp up of PPAP parts beyond implementation timing
- Drive robust Supplier Failure Mode Avoidance through DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plan reviews, Manufacturing feasibility reviews and Manufacturing standards as applicable
- Drive suppliers for Special process compliance with the support of STA
Technical Specialists - Drive continuous improvement in manufacturing excellence with the assigned
sites through IATF requisites deployment. - Upgrade Suppliers' Quality Systems to meet Fords Quality Standard Q1
- Drive deployment & improvement of Quality performance requirements - Ford In plant Quality and Warranty performance through Reduction, Benchmarking, Lean Manufacturing,G8D (Global 8 Disciplines) methodology,
- Drive Suppliers for robust PFMEA (Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis), SPC (Statistical Process Control), Gage R&R (Repeatability and Reproducibility), etc.) as required
- Drive closure of supplier process quality issues related to Stop Ship/Build,
and Field Warranty Action - Drive compliance to all organizational and corporate training requirements and
SIM (Supplier Improvement Metrics) process compliance.
1. Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering,
Automobile Engineering.
2. 8+ years of experience in Supplier Quality Assurance, Process
Engineering
3. Experience in Forging, Casting & Machining processes.
4. Skills - PFMEA, DFMEA, SPC, MSA, Six Sigma Methodology
5. Role includes travel of around 70% of working time.
