The Variable Brakes OPD D&R Engineer is responsible for delivery and maintenance of actuation brake systems and components (Brake tubes, pedal box, jounce hoses & wheel speed sensors) for current production vehicle lines.

Responsibilities

1. Ensure robust ongoing delivery of actuation brake systems and components, including optimizing the design and packaging of components while maintaining overall system performance, cost, weight, quality, and adherence to corporate/regulatory requirements

2. Support ongoing production development (OPD) as well as In-Cycle Change Actions (ICAs) for assigned programs by leading design changes and updates as needed to address quality issues/updated requirements 

3. Lead warranty issue resolution for assigned components and suppliers 

4. Pursue cost saving opportunities with assigned suppliers to support section and department cost reduction targets

6. Manage supplier contacts for assigned components via regular open issues discussions and supplier touchpoints

7. Serve as a leader and representative of brake engineering to interfacing organizations.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Related degree.

- High English proficiency (reading, writing and speaking)

 - Experience in functional engineering desirable, preferably Chassis or Automotive related work experience (Ford, OEM, supplier) 

- Strong leadership skills – Inherent self-starter, self-motivated with strong drive for results 

- Project management skills – Capable of managing projects by looking both at the big picture objectives and at detail administration to achieve these objectives. 

- Excellent math, science, technology and IT skills, able to work in unfamiliar and unstructured situations and succeed 

- The ability to analyze complex problems and assess possible solutions 

- The ability to explain design ideas clearly and strong decision-making skills 

- Strong oral/written communication skills to lead group projects, issue resolution and management reviews 

- Excellent team working and people skills 

- A comprehensive understanding of Brakes Subsystems Design Specifications 

- Computer- literate: 

o Proficiency in MS-Office/Outlook, Excel, Word, Powerpoint 

o 3D CAD software tools exposure (Catia / Teamcenter, Vismock up) 

o Desirable: CAE structural basic knowledge 

- Demonstrated proficiency in engineering disciplines preferred: DVP&R, DFMEA, 8D, NVH, Process Controls, GD&T, Reliability and System Engineering Fundamentals 

- Problem Solving: DMAIC/DFSS/Robustness Tools working experience 

- Ability to travel and support Ford Motor Company final assembly plants and supplier sites, when required during project delivery; many of them located in Unites States where international travel and B1/B2 or TN Visa would be required

- Availability to work in a hybrid scheme.
