From a power unit systems perspective candidates will need to be confident with coordination of cross functional technical alignment on assumptions and sign off requirements. This position requires an equal aptitude for both project management, delivery, and technical problem solving.  This job position includes ownership of eDrive unit systems engineering for future model designs and vehicles.

From a power unit industrialization perspective this job includes managing milestone reviews/signoffs, developing timing plans, maintaining program financials, and supporting component/assembly releases in WERS. This position will work closely with the eDrive systems engineers, eDrive component engineers, powertrain planning, and teams from electrified powertrain engineering. This position would also cover build coordination of edrive power units for both internal testing and vehicle level testing. 

From a core perspective this position is for a Core Engineering Supervisor specifically working on ICE transmissions, hybrid transmissions, and eDrive units. The supervisor will lead a team of engineers with key responsibilities of this position being handling the responsibilities around core documentation like design rule implementation, requirement follow through and FMA documentation. This role will also include helping maintain rigor towards new designs by understanding previous failure modes and ensuring all lessons learned are incorporated into further designs. These processes ensure that we are compliant to our design methods and requirements and also ensure we meet the design intent for our customers.

  • POWER UNIT SYSTEMS/INDUSTRIALIZATION R&RS

    • Work with internal component D&R engineers from both Underbody Systems Engineering and Electrified Powertrain Engineering to lead overall internal systems design

    • Systems design rule assessments

    • System cooling/lubrication design 

    • GVWR, VMAX, Torque limit, duty cycle and durability assessments

    • Requirements cascade to component engineers, sub system design specification management 

    • Layout and stack up sign off

    • Overall component and system test alignment

    • Weight management/optimization

    • Work with vehicle program team to ensure proper execution of external interfaces

    • Vehicle package signoff

    • Vehicle attribute interface

    • As installed system lead 

    • Interface with internal manufacturing team (including PTME and VO)

      • Manage milestone cadence within GPDS parameters

      • Lead milestone assessments, report-outs (to Director level), and papers to ensure on-time approvals

      • Engage in new business proposals & business cases

      • Develop & maintain project schedules

      • Lead or support TPMT (Transmission Product Management Team) for responsible commodities

      • Act as transmission lead/SPOC in Program PMT meeting

      • Collect and enter Integrator assessments

      • Provide Finance team support

      • Coordinate with Team of Four groups and work with Purchasing to ensure we are on track for delivery

      • Drive FMA process to ensure we are on track for delivery to milestones

      • Write DRPs and drive for approvals

      • Manage BOM/FEDE-BOM

      • Support WERS release

      • Edrive power unit build coordination 

  • CORE R&RS

  • Responsible for putting all future powertrains into MagicDraw. Will work directly with TS and D&Rs to ensure all applicable design parameters are included within the models

  • Responsible for putting past powertrains into MagicDraw on an as needed basis

  • Responsible for initial design rule and requirement assessment for what is applicable and not applicable on all future programs

  • Work with D&R’s in their understanding of what is required to deliver evidence for design rules and requirements before Technical Specialist approval. This follows the life of all Powertrain programs

  • Responsible for all FMA requirements during pre-program phase (Campaign prevent, Boundary Diagrams, CPA’s, P-Diagrams, DFMEA’s, RCL’s, Quality History, etc.). Will continue to help update these documents through the life of the program

  • Responsible for ensuring all added design rules or requirements from lessons learned, PCA’s, etc. are captured correctly as well as cascaded to the applicable components/systems

  • Responsible for detailing out change of process found through lessons learned on design rules, requirements, SSSOS implementation, etc.

  • Responsible for detailing out processes for communication cross organization like calibration, engine, subframe, mounts, etc. as they relate to powertrain

  • Create single point lessons on FMA documentation

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or similar degree (MS preferred)

  • 4+ yrs of experience managing /delivering powertrain programs through launch

  • Proactive self starter that can handle multiple assignments at a time

  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, self motivates to deliver results with minimal direction

  • Desire to lead cross functional working teams

  • Strong problem solving skills

  • Excellent writing, speaking, interpersonal skills and presentation

  • MBSE (model based systems engineering) experience

  • CAD experience 

    • Knowledge of systems engineering principles and prior experience authoring requirements 

    • Basic understanding of electrified powertrain system function and attributes at the subsystem and vehicles levels desired

    • Strong GPDS (global product development system) knowledge

      • Strong background in MagicDraw or MBSE

      • Strong background in FMA development

      • Strong background in transmission and eDrive development

        • Capable of MBSE modeling within MagicDraw.

        • Understand the what, why, how of the design rules and requirements

        • Have thorough understanding of the design rules and requirements to aid in what evidence is needed.

        • Knowledge of how a transmission is put together as well as the components within it

        • Knowledge of an eDrive unit, how it is put together and the components within it
