In this position...
As an Automotive Systems Validation & Test Automation Intern within the 12-month Ford Champs Program, you will help shape next-generation vehicle technology by validating driver information and in-cabin display systems. In this hands-on engineering role, you will bridge embedded hardware and automated software testing—troubleshooting real-time vehicle communication networks, building automation scripts, and ensuring our connected digital cockpits deliver an exceptional, reliable customer experience.

What you'll do...

• Execute functional and system-level validation for Driver Information features using hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test benches, bench-top setups, and simulated vehicle networks.
• Investigate, isolate, and troubleshoot complex technical issues to determine whether root causes stem from system architecture, software logic, or hardware integration.
• Perform in-depth debugging and failure reproduction utilizing diagnostic logs, signal traces, and vehicle network analysis tools.
• Develop and refine automated test scripts (primarily in Python) to expand automated test coverage and accelerate validation cycles within existing test frameworks.
• Partner with cross-functional engineering teams to validate firmware bug fixes, track defect life cycles, and support end-to-end system testing.
• Monitor daily test progress, defect tracking, and feature coverage to ensure timely issue resolution and alignment with program milestones.

You'll have...

• Currently enrolled student in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Academic or practical experience in programming fundamentals, with an emphasis on Python or similar scripting languages.
• Demonstrated interest or foundational experience in hands-on hardware/software testing, troubleshooting, and debugging.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset with a proactive drive to investigate technical anomalies and propose evidence-based solutions.
• Professional working proficiency in English (written and verbal), with the ability to document technical findings and collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Even better, you may have...

• Familiarity with automotive communication protocols and vehicle network interfaces (such as CAN, LIN, or Ethernet).
• Experience using version control systems (e.g., Git/GitHub) and automated testing frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with hardware instrumentation, bench testing tools, oscilloscopes, or signal analyzers.
