The Team Manager role is responsible for leading and developing a team of production employees to meet and/or exceed all key performance indicators. This role ensures daily production goals are met, maintains compliance with health and safety regulations, and drives continuous improvement using lean manufacturing principles. The Team Manager fosters a culture of accountability and teamwork while collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize operational performance.

The Team Manager is responsible for leading, coaching, and developing a team of production and maintenance employees to achieve performance targets related to safety, quality, delivery and cost. This role requires a hands-on leader with strong problem-solving skills, a focus on continuous improvement, and the ability to drive operational excellence within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is critical to Ford Motor Company's commitment to producing high-quality powertrain components while maintaining a safe and productive workplace. The Team Manager plays a key role in driving our Ford Operating System, supporting employee development, and contributing to Ford's success in delivering reliable and innovative vehicles.

What you'll do...

  • Confirm standards are in place.
  • Monitor and confirm that manufacturing operating system standards are being applied and adhered to throughout the area.
  • Facilitate a results driven process through utilization of standard processes and tools.
  • Develop, coach, and support to achieve SQDCPME objectives.
  • Support issues raised by the teams.
  • Coach, teach, and feedback on resolution of abnormalities, and validate closure of concerns (facilitates permanent corrective actions).
  • Drive continuous improvement on systemic abnormalities to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Provide necessary resources to maintain production flow and confirm critical inputs are being performed to the acceptable standard(s).
  • Plan maintenance tasks, monitor completion and effectiveness, and drive improvement and/or coaching opportunities.
  • Plan changes to the system.
  • Adhere to and modify Time & Data Management to promote, support, and coach a continuous improvement mindset and activities in the team.
  • Plan FTPM activities to improve area performance.
  • Manage changes to the system.
  • Drive the creation and coordination of work plans (downtime, shutdown, manage the change), and ensure the team is executing.  Evaluate the effectiveness of work plans.
  • Plan and implement revisions and improvements to meet the new standards as the manufacturing operating systems mature.
  • Communication and Recognition.
  • Enable a culture of learning through demonstration of effective communication skills.
  • Respect and encourage respect of all team members by my actions.
  • Develop highly competent and motivated people.
  • Mentor, nurture, develop teams to own working together, modeling the Ford values and expected behaviors.
  • Develop and provide feedback for the Process Coach professional development.
  • Create a conducive work environment for the team(s) to complete their assigned responsibilities / tasks.
  • Create a Zero Tolerance environment and reaffirm team members respect each other.
  • Create a proactive performance driven culture that listens, reacts and supports (effective communication, education, listening, trust) to capture the hearts and minds of the people.
  • Proactively recognize the teams accomplishments and improve morale.
  • Ensure completion of administrative responsibilities.

You’ll have:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline and/or 10 years of progressive management in production operations. (Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of degree completion for the highest level of education attained. If the degree was obtained from a school outside of Canada, an Education Credential Assessment report showing Canadian equivalency is also required).


 Experience:

  • 5 -10 years progressive management experience in production operations.

  • Bachelors Degree in Industrial Operations, Engineering, or Business management.


Experience:

  • 10 plus years progressive management experience in production operations
  • 5+ years' experience as a supervisor in manufacturing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with plant hourly and salaried personnel, plant management, 
  • Highly developed analytical abilities and sound, rapid decision-making capabilities.
  • Capacity to perform effectively under pressure and manage crises when necessary.
  • Adhere to and modify Time & Data Management to promote, support, and coach a continuous improvement mindset and activities in the team.
  • Plan FTPM activities to improve area performance.
  • Manage changes to the system.
