We are seeking an experienced application professional with at least five years of experience developing and supporting business applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, and IMS-DB/DC. The role focuses on maintaining, enhancing, and supporting existing applications and batch jobs. The role also includes working with mainframe APIs that enable integration with Java applications—supporting, troubleshooting, and helping maintain the exchange of data between systems. Familiarity with Java and Google Cloud Platform (GCP), with a willingness to build on that foundation and contribute to integration and modernization work as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and support COBOL programs and related business applications.
  • Create, update, and troubleshoot JCL for batch processing.
  • Work with DB2 SQL and stored procedures to support application data needs.
  • Develop and support IMS-DB/DC applications and transaction-processing workflows.
  • Monitor and support scheduled jobs, investigate failures, identify root causes, and implement fixes.
  • Support and troubleshoot mainframe APIs used to integrate mainframe systems with Java applications, including connectivity and data-exchange issues.
  • Collaborate with Java and cloud teams on application integration and modernization efforts.
  • Analyze application issues and enhancements, coordinating with developers, testers, business analysts, and business partners.
  • Participate in code reviews and follow established coding, testing, and change-management practices.
  • Maintain clear documentation of application logic, job flows, APIs, changes, and support procedures.
  • Build on existing familiarity with Java and GCP and contribute to related initiatives as appropriate.

Required Qualifications

  • At least five years of hands-on experience developing and supporting applications using mainframe technologies.
  • Strong experience with COBOL, JCL, and DB2.
  • Experience with IMS-DB and/or IMS-DC.
  • Experience supporting or working with mainframe APIs that integrate with Java applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to support production applications, troubleshoot issues, and deliver reliable fixes.
  • Familiarity with Java and Google Cloud Platform (GCP), with a willingness to build on that foundation and contribute to integration and modernization work as needed.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting enterprise applications in a complex environment.
  • Familiarity with application integration or modernization initiatives involving Java and cloud technologies.
  • Experience with tools and processes for batch scheduling, production support, and application releases.
