Delivery of dealer diagnostic content for Ford (including Lincoln and joint ventures) vehicle programs globally
Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate is one which has a vehicle repair background on both mechanical and electronic vehicle systems plus is proficient with authoring applications and has experience with software basic languages and have authored diagnostic documents. Candidate could create logical steps to lead technicians to identify reasons for failure.
Diagnostic Authoring R&R
- Work with Design engineers to understand vehicle electrical architecture, how it can fail and how it can be diagnosed
- Work with core team to determine if previously authored diagnostics can be leveraged or if new OTX needs to be developed
- Work with Design engineers to analyze system functionality and architecture to develop detailed component-level Description and Operation documentation.
- Utilizes computer application software to design, develop, create and test the diagnostic routines for implementation on the Authorised Repairer (AR) diagnostic tool.
- Validates and signs-off diagnostics routines using simulation, rigs and vehicles as necessary
- Work with Design and Release engineers to resolve issues within Part 2 specifications
- Work with Technical Assistance Center to resolve diagnostic issues in the field
Skills
- Excellent communication skills and clear written/verbal communication skills.
- Strong understanding of automotive electronics architecture and mechanical architecture.
- Ability to interpret Ford Part 2 diagnostic data specifications.
- Experience with Arbor text or similar XML-based authoring tools for technical documentation.
- Hands-on experience with Grade-X, OTX authoring tools.
- Ability to interpret complex electrical wiring diagrams.
- Strong understanding of UDS (Unified Diagnostic Services) and communications protocols (CAN)
- Excellent problem-solving skills and familiarity with software editors.
- Vehicle validation skills and hands-on experience performing diagnostic test runs on vehicle.
- Experience with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
- Ideally hands-on experience servicing or repairing vehicles or similar products.
- Good team player but also ability to focus and work alone to meet deadlines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent.
- 4+ years of experience with vehicle architecture, system & diagnostics experience.
- Strong technical, troubleshooting, and strategical skills around vehicle software and systems.
- Deep understanding of UDS (ISO 14229), and CAN/CAN-FD networking.
- Strong analytical skills to debug complex communication issues between ECUs and service tools.
