The EV Battery Systems Engineer will contribute to the requirement handling, plant and control model development, and creation of design & engineering validation plans for control modules within electric vehicles. This role combines hardware understanding, model-based design of plant/controller and verification plan creation. You will collaborate with global teams to deliver high-quality, scalable battery solutions aligned with automotive safety and performance standards

  • Analyse software requirements and develop test cases for EV battery systems
  • Perform modelling and calibration for dspace & Typhoon HILs 
  • Support battery hardware requirements understanding and contribute to requirement/test design
  • Develop and validate models using tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, Stateflow, simscape
  • Execute, monitor, and deliver project artefacts aligned with quality, cost, and timeline targets
  • Conduct root cause analysis and support issue resolution for complex system problems
  • Ensure adherence to functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional and global stakeholders (including FNA teams)
  • Participate in peer reviews and contribute to quality improvements
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives for efficiency, productivity, and cost savings
  • Lead or contribute to technical trainings and knowledge-sharing sessions
  • Capture lessons learnt and implement improvements in development processes

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Automotive Engineering, or related field
  • Relevant experience in EV battery systems, embedded systems, or automotive software

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of Electric Vehicle (EV) battery systems and Battery Control Modules
  • Experience with Software Development Lifecycle (V-cycle model)
  • Expertise in model-based development and validation
  • Hands-on experience with: 
    • MATLAB, Simulink, Stateflow
    • AUTOSAR architecture
    • Embedded C / TargetLink / Embedded Coder
  • Experience in MIL (Model-in-the-Loop) systems testing and validation
  • Experience in SIL (Software-in-the-Loop) systems testing and validation
  • Knowledge of requirement management tools (e.g., Jama)
  • Working knowledge of static analysis tools like polyspace
  • Scripting skills (Python, MATLAB M-script)
