Senior Software Engineer - Front End Developer

We're seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Frontend) proficient in React, Next.js, and Node.js to serve as a deep technical expert within our product area. This is a senior IC role — GSR7 is the expected terminal level for most engineers, with further advancement requiring demonstrated impact at portfolio or organizational scope rather than tenure. You'll create novel solutions, lead technology selection and architecture for your team, drive engineering excellence, and act as a recognized frontend specialist while guiding full-stack technical decisions.

Technical Skills

• Lead technology selection with an architecture-first mindset (DDD, clean architecture, event-driven design, caching, partitioning, latency, scalability, availability)
• Author RFCs/ADRs and drive their adoption; evaluate existing solutions before building custom ones
• Serve as an expert in the modern UI ecosystem — advanced patterns like micro-frontends, server-side rendering, module federation, performance budgets, and design-system architecture
• Make informed technical decisions across frontend, backend, and mobile layers, even with deep expertise concentrated in frontend

Collaboration

• Lead code reviews across all engineering tracks; mentor engineers regardless of specialization
• Drive quality standards and constructively challenge approaches
• Balance tech debt with business needs; bridge communication across frontend, backend, and mobile
• Partner with TPMs to resolve cross-team dependencies

• Design scalable, innovative solutions and evaluate trade-offs within your domain
• Create reliable, well-documented patterns that other teams may adopt
• Anticipate future requirements and build extensible systems
• Evaluate emerging UI frameworks and backend technologies for fit

• Define and maintain observability standards across web, API, and mobile surfaces
• Implement advanced monitoring and partner with the business to define SLOs

Cloud Skills

• Architect cloud solutions (primarily GCP), optimizing for cost, performance, and reliability
• Drive cloud best practices and contribute to team cloud standards
• Apply understanding of CDN, edge computing, and serverless patterns relevant to frontend delivery

Leadership & Stakeholder Management

• Lead technical direction for your team and product area; handle escalations
• Mentor engineers across the team; guide complex problem-solving
• Preemptively identify and mitigate technical risks; resolve cross-team dependencies early
• Make informed decisions through stakeholder consultation and trade-off analysis

Contribute technical perspective to PI planning and roadmap discussions

• 7–8 years of professional experience in front-end/web development
• Expert-level proficiency in React, Next.js, and Node.js
• Proven experience architecting and leading complex, scalable frontend systems
• Strong grasp of architecture principles (DDD, clean architecture, event-driven patterns, caching, scalability)

• Experience writing automated tests (Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress, etc.)

• Experience authoring RFCs/ADRs and driving technical adoption
• Familiarity with advanced frontend patterns: micro-frontends, SSR, module federation, design systems
• Working knowledge of cloud platforms, ideally GCP, including CDN and edge/serverless patterns
• Demonstrated mentoring and cross-functional leadership experience
• Ability to make informed technical calls across frontend, backend, and mobile domains
