Description
The Enterprise Test Automation Lead is responsible for establishing and governing enterprise-wide automation practices across SAP and integrated business systems. The role partners closely with product teams, quality engineering teams, release management, architecture, and external delivery partners to ensure automation supports business-critical testing, integration quality, and release decisions.
This position combines strategic leadership, technical expertise, innovation, and operational governance to enable scalable, reliable, and measurable quality outcomes across transformation programs.
Responsibilities
Enterprise Automation Strategy & Governance
- Define and maintain the enterprise test automation strategy aligned with organizational quality standards and testing governance.
- Establish automation design standards, framework governance, and repository management practices.
- Drive standardization and reuse of automation assets across programs and delivery teams.
Release Readiness & Integration Quality
- Embed automation into release and deployment planning.
- Support end-to-end validation across SAP and integrated systems.
- Provide quality, risk, and automation insights to support release readiness decisions.
- Improve integration testing maturity and dependency management practices.
Test Lifecycle Optimization
- Identify opportunities to reduce testing cycle times and improve execution efficiency.
- Define scalable test data management strategies that support reliable automated execution.
- Enable unattended execution through CI/CD pipelines and distributed execution models.
AI & Innovation
- Evaluate and implement AI-enabled testing solutions, including self-healing automation, impact analysis, and intelligent test generation.
- Drive innovation initiatives focused on improving test effectiveness and operational efficiency.
- Measure business value and adoption of advanced testing capabilities.
Tooling & Technology Leadership
- Lead proof-of-concept evaluations for emerging testing tools and platforms.
- Partner with architecture, security, and procurement stakeholders to support tool adoption.
- Ensure seamless integration of testing tools into the enterprise delivery ecosystem.
Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Partner with Product Driven Organization (PDO) teams and delivery stakeholders to drive adoption of enterprise standards.
- Govern automation quality delivered by system integrators and external partners.
- Act as an escalation point for automation quality risks and coverage gaps.
Metrics & Reporting
- Define and monitor automation coverage, defect leakage, cycle-time improvements, and return on investment.
- Deliver executive-level reporting and actionable insights that support decision-making.
Leadership & Capability Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop automation engineering talent.
- Establish scalable operating models and best practices.
- Promote continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability across teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- 8+ years of software testing, quality engineering, or test automation experience.
- Demonstrated experience designing and governing enterprise-scale test automation frameworks.
- Experience with Tricentis Tosca or comparable model-based automation platforms.
- Strong knowledge of API testing, REST services, and SOAP services.
- Working knowledge of SAP S/4HANA, SAP Fiori, integration patterns, and enterprise business processes.
- Experience leading enterprise tool evaluations, governance reviews, and proof-of-concept initiatives.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AI-enabled testing platforms and intelligent test automation solutions.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and test orchestration.
- Experience supporting large-scale SAP transformation programs.
- Experience working across geographically distributed and cross-functional teams.
