The U.S. Payroll & Employee Payments Specialist supports end-to-end payroll operations for U.S.-based employees from FBS, Chennai. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely employee payments, performing payroll validations and audits, handling payroll requests and corrections, supporting tax and year-end activities, and maintaining compliance with U.S. payroll regulations and company policies. The position requires close coordination with HR, finance, payroll operations, and other internal stakeholders, along with strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and problem-solving skills.
- Prepare and review daily payroll reports to support accurate and timely salary processing for U.S.-based employees.
- Perform COPS audits and other payroll validation checks to ensure data accuracy and compliance before payroll processing.
- Manage Helpdesk and PF-related requests, including coordination of payroll reversal requests and related follow-up actions.
- Support employee payment activities such as intern payments, term packets, and negative kicker processing within defined timelines.
- Process payroll in compliance with federal, state, and regional payroll guidelines, including applicable UAW pay rules, to ensure employees are paid correctly and on time.
- Execute payroll runs in Oracle Cloud Payroll and assist with pre-payroll validations, post-payroll reviews, and payroll variance analysis for earnings, taxes, and deductions.
- Support year-end payroll activities, including W-2 and W-2C reviews, balance adjustments, tax corrections, and audit testing to maintain payroll accuracy.
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, respond to audit requests, troubleshoot system issues, and contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives.
Selected team members are expected to either already possess the required payroll and operational capabilities or demonstrate a strong ability to learn quickly, stabilize processes in a short period, and manage responsibilities independently with minimal supervision.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- Knowledge of U.S. payroll processes, payroll compliance, and employee payment operations; the ability and aptitude to learn these quickly will be a key requirement.
- Familiarity with payroll systems such as Oracle Cloud Payroll or similar payroll platforms.
- Good understanding of payroll taxes, deductions, and year-end payroll activities, including W-2 processing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle confidential payroll data with accuracy and discretion.
- Good interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and adapt quickly to process changes.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is desirable.
- Knowledge of timekeeping systems and payroll-related compliance topics such as FLSA and FMLA is preferred.
Work Experience
- 2+ years of experience in payroll processing, payroll operations, or employee payments, preferably in a multi-state U.S. payroll environment, or prior experience within a Ford payroll or operational environment.
- Experience in payroll reporting, payroll audits, payroll validations, and issue resolution.
- Hands-on experience supporting payroll requests, reversals, term-related payments, and employee payment inquiries.
- Experience working with payroll systems, tax corrections, and payroll variance analysis is preferred.
- Exposure to year-end payroll activities, including W-2 review, payroll balance reconciliation, and audit support, is highly desirable.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams such as HR, Finance, Payroll Operations, and external service providers is preferred.
