Digital Design Specialist, Export Markets

We are seeking a talented and creative HMI Visual UI Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong professional background in automotive HMI visual UI design with solid supplementary knowledge of user experience design, and a passion for crafting user-centric visual digital products for IVI /Cluster/HUD. This role requires excellent communication skills as it involves working closely with JV and International Markets program stakeholders, product managers, feature owners, and cross-functional teams to translate Ford's global visual design standards into high-quality, market-adapted HMI visual design deliverables for export programs.

  1. Global Design DNA & Visual UI Implementation

Interpret and implement Ford's global design DNA (with a core focus on visual language, brand visual guidelines, motion design aesthetics as well as interaction patterns) into HMI visual UI design requirements for export programs, ensuring visual consistency with Ford’s global design standards across all HMI visual deliverables.

  1. HMI Visual UI Design Requirement Definition

Define detailed HMI visual UI design requirements (supplemented with matching UX design specifications) for export programs, covering visual design of core in-vehicle components such as instrument clusters, infotainment interfaces, and functional control modules, all based on Ford's global design DNA and export market visual design demands.Conduct HMI design reviews and sign-offs for JV and export programs to verify compliance with global DNA, brand standards, and functional requirements.

  1. Cross-Stakeholder Collaboration & Design Feasibility Optimization

Collaborate closely with product teams, feature owners, engineering teams and JV partners to align HMI visual UI design direction with program goals, user needs and technical implementation feasibility; optimize interaction logic in conjunction with visual design to ensure the integration of visual aesthetics and functional usability.

  1. User-Centric Visual UI Design Iteration

Collect user feedback, usability test results and market visual design insights from export markets, and conduct targeted iteration and refinement on HMI visual UI designs (including color systems, typography, component visual styles, icon design, etc.), balancing Ford’s global visual design DNA with regional user visual preferences and market aesthetic demands.

  1. HMI UI Design Deliverables Tracking & Milestone Alignment

Track HMI UI design deliverables for export programs, conduct strict visual design quality checks to ensure compliance with global visual standards and program requirements, and guarantee all visual design outputs are delivered on schedule in alignment with overall program milestones.

Bachelor’s degree (Visual Communication Design, Automotive HMI Design, Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field)

5+ years of experience in HMI UI design, with a proven track record of designing in-vehicle infotainment, cluster interfaces and other automotive digital product visual systems; experience in export market automotive HMI design is highly preferred. 

  • Profound understanding of user-centered design principles, with core expertise in automotive HMI visual design, and proven experience translating global brand/design DNA into market-adapted HMI visual UI design solutions for diverse export markets.
  • Mastery of professional HMI visual design tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, Photoshop, Illustrator) and prototyping tools (e.g., InVision, Marvel); able to create high-fidelity HMI visual design drafts, interactive prototypes and detailed visual design specifications.
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration ability, able to communicate effectively with product managers, engineers, JV teams and IMG Export partners to align HMI visual design with technical feasibility and program overall requirements.
  • Familiarity with automotive HMI industry regulations, global and export market visual design standards, and regional user visual perception and behavior preferences is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Chinese, with the ability to clearly articulate HMI visual design rationale, aesthetic standards and detailed requirements to global and local stakeholders.
  • Strong task prioritization and project management ability, able to manage multiple HMI visual design projects simultaneously in a fast-paced automotive product development environment, ensuring visual design deliverables meet program timelines and quality standards.
