  • Job Type: Full time
  • Work Type: Hybrid

We made history and now we work to transform the future – for our customers, our communities and our families. You'll see your work on the road every day, helping people move freely and pursue their dreams. At Ford, you can build more than vehicles. Come build what matters.

As part of our Manufacturing team, you’ll help build the world-class, state-of-the-art smart vehicles we're known for. In our plants around the world, we’re constantly developing new technologies and processes to further increase our efficiency. You'll get the satisfaction of making great products people use and love.

In this position...

We are looking for a high-energy Process Engineer who possesses "dual-threat" engineering sensibilities—combining a deep understanding of mechanical systems with an aptitude for electrical and controls logic. In this role, you aren't just managing a process; you are optimizing it through data-driven decision-making and continuous learning.

The ideal candidate thrives in the dynamic atmosphere of a unionized manufacturing facility. You should be as comfortable troubleshooting on the shop floor alongside skilled trades as you are presenting technical deep-dives to senior leadership. This role requires a unique blend of technical expertise in CNC machining, a passion for quality systems, and the ability to build the working relationships necessary to move projects across the finish line.

What you'll do...

Safety and Quality Excellence

  • Ensure all machining processes meet or exceed safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Drive the APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) process and lead the development of PFMEAs to proactively mitigate risk.
  • Champion quality resolution during new model launches, ensuring "Job 1" meets all specifications.
  • Maintain a rigorous safety culture by monitoring construction and production areas for compliance.

Project and Launch Management

  • Partner with the Lead Engineer to manage critical launch milestones for new engine programs.
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact between OEMs, installation vendors, and plant operations.
  • Develop and track detailed project plans, ensuring timelines and budgets stay on course.

Process and Tooling Optimization

  • Design and implement cutting-edge manufacturing processes while optimizing existing lines for cost and efficiency.
  • Oversee the design, installation, and runoff of new equipment, tooling, and fixtures.
  • Collaborate with Product Development (PD) on Design for Manufacturing (DFM) to ensure new models are optimized for high-volume assembly.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Act as a bridge between the plant team, OEMs, PD, and Tooling Engineers to ensure cross-functional alignment.
  • Provide hands-on technical support to shop floor personnel and skilled trades to resolve complex equipment issues.
  • Confidently communicate project status and technical challenges up the chain of command, translating shop-floor realities into executive-level insights.

Continuous Improvement and Data Analysis

  • Utilize Six Sigma tools and data analytics to identify bottlenecks and reduce production costs.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing principles to streamline workflows and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Document and institutionalize "Lessons Learned" to ensure continuous improvement across future programs.

You'll have...

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing preferred) or equivalent experience.
  • Min of 1 year experience in Manufacturing Environment.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong understanding of statistical methods and Six Sigma methodology for data-driven problem-solving.
    • Familiarity with CNC machining processes and quality management systems.
    • Experience with Python or similar scripting languages for data analysis is highly desirable.
    • A "systems-thinking" approach that bridges mechanical components and electrical controls.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build rapport with union hourly employees and skilled trades.
    • Strong "board room" presence with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical issues to leadership.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a high-volume manufacturing or unionized environment is preferred.

You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!
