We made history and now we work to transform the future – for our customers, our communities and our families. You'll see your work on the road every day, helping people move freely and pursue their dreams. At Ford, you can build more than vehicles. Come build what matters.

Product Development uses design thinking & user experience methods to deliver breakthrough products and services that delight our customers. We bring innovative, exciting, and sustainable ideas to life. We have opportunities around the world for you to contribute to advancements in autonomy, electrification, smart mobility technologies, and more!

Ford Motor Company is seeking a highly experienced and technical 7.3L Engine Calibration Technical Expert to lead the development and optimization of our heavy-duty gasoline engine portfolio. As the technical lead for the 7.3L "Godzilla" engine family, you will be responsible for developing and delivering calibrations that balance performance, fuel economy, emissions compliance, drivability, and Ford’s legendary durability.

This role requires a deep understanding of internal combustion engine (ICE) fundamentals, large-displacement V8 architecture, emissions regulations, and the complex control systems required to meet the demands of our Super Duty and Commercial Vehicle customers. You will serve as the primary technical authority, mentoring junior engineers and interfacing with hardware, software, and vehicle integration teams.

In this position...

  • Technical Leadership: Act as the subject matter expert (SME) for all 7.3L engine calibration activities.
  • Calibration Development: Lead the calibration of engine control features to meet performance targets while ensuring compliance with MD and HD EPA, CARB, and global emissions standards.
  • OBD & Compliance: Ensure all calibration datasets meet On-Board Diagnostic (OBDII) requirements and strictly adhere to Ford’s internal quality and robustness standards.
  • Hardware-Software Integration: Collaborate with engine hardware teams to optimize calibration for specific components (e.g., variable cam timing, intake manifolds, and cooling systems).

What you'll do...

  • Data Analysis & Modeling: Utilize advanced data acquisition tools and simulation environments to analyze complex datasets, identify root causes for calibration issues, and implement robust solutions.
  • Testing & Validation: Oversee dynamometer testing, extreme-weather vehicle testing (hot/cold/altitude), and fleet data analysis to validate calibration robustness.
  • Process Improvement: Drive the implementation of Model-Based Calibration (MBC) and Automated Calibration tools to increase efficiency and reduce development lead times.
  • Mentorship: Lead technical reviews and provide coaching to calibration engineers to foster a culture of technical excellence.

You'll have...

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in powertrain calibration, specifically with large-displacement gasoline engines.
  • Experienced in delivering drivability, emissions, performance, and OBD.
  • Expert-level proficiency in calibration tools such as ATI Vision.
  • Deep understanding of Ford’s internal combustion control strategies and software architectures.
  • Proven track record of delivering production-ready calibrations for high-volume vehicle programs.

Even better, you may have...

  • Master of Science in Engineering with a focus on Engine Combustion or Control Systems.
  • Specific experience with V8 architectures and heavy-duty cycles.
  • Advanced knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink for control logic development.
  • Experience with Design of Experiments (DoE) and statistical modeling for calibration optimization.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex technical data to executive leadership.
  • A passion for Ford’s truck heritage and a commitment to delivering "Built Ford Tough" performance.

You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!

As an established global company, we offer the benefit of choice. You can choose what your Ford future will look like: will your story span the globe, or keep you close to home? Will your career be a deep dive into what you love, or a series of new teams and new skills? Will you be a leader, a changemaker, a technical expert, a culture builder…or all of the above? No matter what you choose, we offer a work life that works for you, including:
• Immediate medical, dental, vision and prescription drug coverage
• Flexible family care days, paid parental leave, new parent ramp-up programs, subsidized back-up child care and more
• Family building benefits including adoption and surrogacy expense reimbursement, fertility treatments, and more

• Tuition assistance
• Established and active employee resource groups
• Paid time off for individual and team community service
• A generous schedule of paid holidays, including the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day
• Paid time off and the option to purchase additional vacation time.
