In this position...
- We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Program Manager (TPM) to join Ford Credit Data Engineering team. In this pivotal role, you will be the primary orchestrator of technical delivery for our global data modernization strategy.
- You will drive the execution of complex, cross-functional programs that transition our foundational data assets from legacy environments into a modern, scalable Google Cloud Platform (GCP) ecosystem.
- As a TPM, you will sit at the intersection of Product and Engineering, ensuring that our data infrastructure powers critical business outcomes such as credit decisioning, risk modeling, and digital financing products. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess deep technical curiosity, and have a proven track record of managing large-scale data migrations, we encourage you to apply.
What you'll do...
- Lead Cross-Functional Execution: Drive complex technical initiatives across multiple product teams, ensuring coordinated delivery of the Data Modernization from On-Prem to GCP.
- Strategic Partnership: Partner closely with Data Product Managers to translate high-level strategy into detailed technical requirements. Collaborate with Engineering Managers to define delivery components, develop effort estimates, and create actionable plans.
- Agile & PI Planning: Lead the Program Increment (PI) Planning process and facilitate Agile/SAFe ceremonies. Ensure engineering squads are aligned on priorities, dependencies, and committed objectives.
- Capacity & Scope Management: Manage organizational capacity planning and resource allocation. Balance the demand for new GCP-native features against the decommissioning of legacy systems to ensure optimal throughput.
- Jira & Portfolio Governance: Serve as the Jira Administrator for the portfolio. Maintain data integrity, design advanced roadmaps, and build executive-level dashboards in Jira and Confluence to provide real-time visibility into project health.
- Technical Deep-Dive & Impact Analysis: Conduct thorough analyses of project plans to identify technical dependencies or solution misalignments. Deep-dive into complex issues to understand root causes, evaluate trade-offs, and propose strategic adjustments.
- Risk Mitigation & Issue Resolution: Implement robust tracking mechanisms to proactively identify and mitigate risks. Act as a central point for issue resolution and remove impediments to keep teams focused and on track.
- Executive Communication & Reporting: Serve as the primary liaison for project communications. Prepare and deliver concise, insightful status reports and presentations to senior leadership, highlighting progress, critical risks, and key decisions.
- Change Management: Own and manage the change control process for individual projects, collaborating with program and product line managers to define, estimate, and prioritize proposed changes.
- Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, fostering effective collaboration and knowledge sharing across diverse global teams.
You'll have...
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience: 7+ years of project/program management experience, with at least 5 years specifically managing complex software development or data engineering projects.
- Data Domain Expertise: 3+ years of experience managing Data projects, with a functional understanding of extracting data from legacy systems and optimizing it for Cloud environments.
- Cloud Literacy: Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) technologies (e.g., BigQuery, Dataflow).
- Tooling: 2+ years of experience in Jira, including administration, JQL, and dashboard creation.
- Methodology: Strong understanding of SDLC methodologies (Agile, Scrum, SAFe).
Even better, you may have...
- Technical Depth: Proven ability to deep-dive into complex, ambiguous technical problems with architects and engineers; capable of evaluating trade-offs and proposing strategic solutions.
- Leadership & Influence: Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.
- Communication: Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strategic Analysis: Experience identifying technical dependencies or solution misalignments across multiple products and business outcomes.
- Certifications: PMP, CSM (Certified Scrum Master), SAFe Agilist, or Google Cloud Digital Leader certification.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience in Financial Services or Automotive Lending, with an understanding of regulatory and compliance reporting (e.g., FCRA, GDPR).
