The Maintenance Supervisor for Final Assembly is responsible for leading and coordinating the technical team to ensure maximum equipment availability and reliability within the Trim lines. The primary focus is to meet Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) targets by minimizing downtime through the effective execution of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance according to the Ford Production System (FPS).
Safety & Quality
Safety First: Ensure all personnel strictly follow ECPL (Energy Control & Power Lockout) protocols, use appropriate PPE, and comply with Ford’s industrial safety standards and environmental regulations.
Process Quality: Ensure all quality impact tooling, Error Proofing and test equipment are calibrated and functioning within specifications to guarantee FTT (First Time Through) goals.
Operational and Technical Management
Equipment Uptime: Oversee the maintenance of conveyors, transfer systems, DC controlled torque tools, urethane application process & Error Proofing systems.
Preventive Maintenance (PM): Ensure 100% compliance with the PM schedule, optimizing routines to improve MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures).
Emergency Response: Direct corrective maintenance activities to reduce MTTR (Mean Time To Repair) during critical line stoppages.
Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Lead complex troubleshooting using tools such as 5 Whys, Ishikawa Diagrams, and 8Ds to prevent recurrence of failures.
Leadership & FPS (Ford Production System)
People Management: Supervise an hourly workforce, managing shifts, overtime, and technical training.
Continuous Improvement: Implement productivity projects, energy-saving initiatives, and MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) spare parts optimization with Six Sigma & Kaizen methodology.
FPS Standards: Maintain workplace organization using 5S methodology and participate in daily operational shift meetings.
Key performance indicators
- Downtime: Total minutes of line stoppage due to technical failures.
- MTTR / MTBF: Efficiency in repair and equipment reliability metrics.
- PM Compliance: Percentage of completed vs. scheduled preventive maintenance.
- JPH: Jobs Per Hour
- CM Compliance
- 4D resolution: Root cause analysis to prevent recurrences
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related field).
Experience
- 1 to 3 years of experience in maintenance within the automotive industry (preferably in Final Assembly areas).
- Proven experience leading work teams (technical).
Technical Skills
- Automation & Control: Proficiency in Allen Bradley PLCs (Studio 5000), industrial networks (Ethernet/IP), and Variable Frequency Drives (PowerFlex).
- Torque Systems: Experience with Atlas Copco, Apex, or Stanley DC tools.
- Robotics: Basic knowledge of Fanuc robots (path programming and troubleshooting).
- Mechanics & Hydraulics: Knowledge of pneumatic systems, fluid pumps, and conveyor mechanical systems.
- Software: Experience using Maintenance Management Systems such as SAP or Maximo.
