As a Software Engineering Manager within Indirect Purchasing IT, you will lead the design, development, and deployment of COSMOS, a modern global inventory management platform that replaces six legacy mainframe applications with a cloud-native solution built on Java and GCP.
You will provide technical leadership, delivery oversight, and people management for a cross-functional engineering team responsible for building scalable, secure, and highly available enterprise applications. The role focuses on modernization, enterprise integration, cloud adoption, and engineering excellence while supporting business processes across Purchasing, Materials Management, Manufacturing, Finance, Logistics, and Plant Operations.
This is a unique opportunity to build and launch a large-scale global application from the ground up and drive digital transformation across multiple regions.
Product Strategy & Delivery
- Partner with business stakeholders to define and execute the product roadmap for COSMOS.
- Lead Agile delivery teams to deliver business value through incremental releases.
- Drive modernization initiatives that simplify business processes and improve user experience.
- Support organizational readiness through change management, adoption planning, and training activities.
Engineering Leadership
- Lead software engineering teams responsible for design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
- Establish engineering best practices including CI/CD, automated testing, DevSecOps, and operational excellence.
- Drive full lifecycle ownership across development and production support activities.
- Monitor delivery, quality, reliability, and adoption metrics.
Architecture & Modernization
- Architect and oversee cloud-native microservices running on GCP.
- Drive migration from legacy technologies to modern platforms and architectures.
- Ensure seamless integration with SAP Ariba, SAP S/4HANA, and other enterprise applications.
- Promote scalable, secure, and maintainable system design principles.
People Leadership
- Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering organization.
- Foster collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Support career growth through coaching and technical leadership.
Strategic Collaboration
- Work closely with Architecture, Cloud Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Data, DevOps, and business teams.
- Drive alignment across multiple workstreams and external dependencies.
- Influence adoption of modern engineering practices and platform standards.
Hands-On Technical Leadership
- Participate in architecture reviews and key technical decisions.
- Guide teams through complex technical challenges and modernization efforts.
- Support code reviews, design reviews, and technical problem solving.
Modernization & Engineering Leadership
- 12+ years of progressive software engineering experience.
- Proven experience leading large-scale application modernization programs.
- Experience delivering enterprise applications in global environments.
- Strong people leadership and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Experience leading Agile software development teams.
Technology
- Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot.
- Experience building microservices and API-driven architectures.
- Experience with Angular-based application development.
- Strong SQL and PostgreSQL experience.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and containerized deployments.
- Experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
- Experience designing and deploying solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Experience with API management platforms such as Apigee.
- Knowledge of CI/CD, DevSecOps, automated testing, and monitoring practices.
Enterprise Integration
- Experience integrating enterprise applications and platforms.
- Experience working with SAP Ariba and SAP S/4HANA integrations is preferred.
- Experience managing complex systems with multiple upstream and downstream dependencies.
Preferred Skills
- Legacy modernization and mainframe migration experience.
- Knowledge of procurement, materials management, inventory management, or supply chain business processes.
- Experience with GCP services such as BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, and Cloud Monitoring.
- Experience delivering applications in manufacturing or automotive environments.
- Familiarity with Vertex AI and AI-enabled developer productivity tools.
- Experience leveraging AI coding assistants to improve engineering productivity and software quality.
