In this position, you will:
- Provide strategic oversight to the reporting to management on the status of critical spare parts, ensuring clear communication of risks and availability.
- Collaborate extensively with Final Assembly production teams, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Product Development, and Global Purchasing to identify critical spare parts and ensure they are accurately entered and managed within our systems.
- Work directly with vendors to obtain quotes, negotiate terms, and secure the timely procurement of critical spare parts, ensuring competitive pricing and reliable supply.
- Develop and implement strategies to minimize the impact of potential spare part shortages on assembly line operations and equipment uptime.
- Contribute to the overall operational excellence of the Final Assembly plant by ensuring a robust and responsive critical spare parts supply chain.
What you'll do:
- Work closely with Product Development and Manufacturing Engineering during new vehicle launches and engineering changes to ensure critical part readiness, manufacturability, and a robust supply chain for Final Assembly, including the necessary spare parts for new equipment.
- Develop and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to critical parts availability, risk exposure, inventory turns, and supplier performance, with a direct focus on Final Assembly impact and equipment uptime.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments for critical parts, identifying single points of failure, geopolitical risks, capacity constraints, and other potential vulnerabilities impacting Final Assembly equipment and production.
- Manage the lifecycle of critical spare parts from identification to obsolescence, including inventory optimization, storage, and distribution within the plant.
- Lead problem-solving efforts for critical spare part issues, coordinating with maintenance, engineering, and suppliers to resolve challenges quickly and prevent production interruptions.
You'll have:
- A high school diploma or equivalent GED.
- 5+ years of automotive maintenance experience, demonstrating a strong understanding of industrial equipment and the parts required for its upkeep.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities, with a strong data-driven approach to critical parts management.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic manufacturing environment.
- A proactive mindset with the ability to anticipate challenges and develop preventive solutions to protect production and ensure equipment reliability.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and external vendors.
Even better, you may have:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies as applied in an automotive plant.
- Experience specifically within the automotive manufacturing industry, particularly in vehicle Final Assembly operations and maintenance planning.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) for inventory management, procurement, and materials planning.
