Product Development Engineer - Intern

As a Bill Of Materials (BOM) Engineer Ford Champ, you will be responsible to coordinate and make sure the BOM completeness and quality of data in support of the Change Management Process and prototype builds. BOM Engineer tracks the impact of Material Cost, Weight and Investment adjustments during Change Management from Early Stages and until Program Approval, work together with Prototype Purchasing by qualifying the Prototype BOM to initiate the Prototype Sourcing process in support of the Fit Prototype Process and makes sure the design intent is accurate in the visual representation in the PLM system (TcE).

• AI project identification and planning: Support the identification of AI-driven opportunities within BOM Operations processes and help define project requirements and plans for integrating artificial intelligence.
• Data analysis and manipulation: Analyze and process data from various sources that interact with BOM Operations to support decision-making.
• Data visualization and interpretation: Assist in visualizing and interpreting data related to BOM Operations processes to identify trends and insights.
• Communication of results: Participate in presenting findings and results clearly to different audiences.
• Prototype BOM accuracy: Request and validate that the prototype BOM file for active programs is created with accurate and complete data.
• Work plan and cross-functional coordination: Develop a work plan for managing the prototype BOM file—including start date, cadence, and collaboration model with purchasing, engineering, and program management teams—while staying informed on upcoming build requirements and their impact on the BOM and purchasing systems.

• Active student from any of the last 2 semesters of Computer Engineering, Data science, Artificial Intelligence Engineering, or similar technical discipline. 
• Programming Skills (coding in VBA Excel macros, Python desirable)
• 90% English skills (Oral, reading, writing, and listening)
• Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills (Spanish and English)
• Microsoft Office management (Power BI, Word, Excel and Power Point). 
• Ability to analyze complex problems and assess possible solutions 
• Ability to prioritize and plan effectively 
• A commitment to keep up to date with new technology
• Excellent team working and people skills 
• Leadership, persuasion, and influence on others
• 3D CAD software desirable (CATIA V5, NX, etc)
• PDM systems knowledge desirable (Teamcenter Engineering/3DX).
