Location
Naucalpan de Juárez, Mexico

The Staff TAX VAT Analyst will be responsible for ensuring full compliance with Mexico's indirect tax obligations, including Value Added Tax (VAT), Special Tax on Production and Services (IEPS), and the Informative Return of Third-Party Transactions (DIOT), while acting as a key driver of automation and digital transformation within the tax function.

This role requires a professional who combines solid technical knowledge of Mexican indirect tax regulations with a strong analytical mindset and proficiency in data analytics, process automation, and AI-enabled tools. The Analyst will be expected to move beyond traditional manual compliance work, using technology to streamline tax processes, improve data quality, and generate actionable insights for the business.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Tax Compliance & Reporting: Prepare, review, and file monthly and annual indirect tax returns and informative declarations before the Mexican Tax Administration Service (SAT), ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • 4 Days On Site in GTBC Ford México (Naucalpan, México)
  • CFDI & Documentation Management: Validate and reconcile electronic invoices (CFDI) issued and received, ensuring correct tax classification and compliance with current fiscal requirements.
  • VAT Recovery & Refunds: Support the preparation of documentation and analysis required for VAT credit balances, refund requests, and offsetting processes with tax authorities.
  • Regulatory Monitoring: Stay current with changes in Mexican tax legislation (Federal Fiscal Code, VAT Law, IEPS Law) and assess their impact on business operations and reporting processes.
  • Process Automation: Identify manual, repetitive tax processes and design automated workflows using data preparation, workflow automation, and integration tools to reduce cycle time and minimize errors.
  • Data Analytics & Reporting: Build and maintain dashboards and reporting tools to monitor tax compliance status, detect anomalies, and provide real-time visibility into indirect tax risk and performance.
  • AI-Driven Insights: Apply artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities—such as anomaly detection, natural language tools for tax research, and predictive analytics—to strengthen compliance controls and support decision-making.
  • Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with Finance, IT, and business stakeholders to standardize processes, document automation opportunities, and drive ongoing efficiency initiatives within the tax function.
  • Audit Support: Respond to information requests and audits from tax authorities, preparing supporting documentation and analysis as needed.

This position is ideal for a tax professional who is passionate about leveraging technology to modernize the indirect tax function, someone who sees data analytics and automation not as optional add-ons, but as core tools for delivering accurate, efficient, and forward-looking tax operations.

Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in indirect tax compliance in Mexico (VAT, IEPS, DIOT), preferably within a multinational company, shared services center, or Big4 environment.
  • Demonstrated experience applying data analytics or automation tools to improve tax processes (e.g., reducing manual reconciliation, building reporting dashboards, or automating recurring tasks).
  • Prior exposure to tax audits or interactions with the Mexican Tax Administration Service (SAT) is highly valued.

  • Strong knowledge of Mexican indirect tax legislation (Federal Fiscal Code, VAT Law, IEPS Law) and CFDI 4.0 requirements.
