- Technical Liaison: Serve as the primary engineering contact between internal product development teams and external commercial upfitters to align technical interfaces and maintain vehicle integrity.
- Validation & Testing: Coordinate and execute vehicle-level validation testing and troubleshoot complex electrical-mechanical interfaces and automotive network systems (such as CAN networks).
- Lifecycle & Release Management: Drive the end-to-end engineering release process for upfit systems from prototype phases through production launch using industry-standard CAD and product data tools.
- Quality & Cost Optimization: Author and review critical design validation documents (including DFMEAs and interface specifications) to prevent failure modes, improve quality, and optimize packaging weight and cost.
- Industry Collaboration: Partner with commercial fleet clients and equipment manufacturers to translate real-world vocational requirements into robust, upfit-ready vehicle standards.
What You Bring (Requirements)You'll have.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
- Typically 3+ years of experience in automotive product development, vehicle integration, or commercial vehicle modifier engineering.
- Solid working knowledge of electrical-mechanical systems, vehicle electrical distribution (EDS), and structural load interfaces.
- Professional proficiency in English (oral, reading, writing, and listening).
- Strong collaborative leadership skills with the ability to resolve cross-functional issues with external partners and suppliers.
Even better, you may have...
- Master’s degree in an engineering discipline.
- Experience using design tools such as CATIA, Teamcenter, or similar CAD/PLM applications.
- Proficiency in using automotive network diagnostics and troubleshooting tools (such as CANalyzer or oscilloscopes).
- Prior experience working directly with certified modifier standards and commercial upfit installations.
- Basic understanding of automotive Functional Safety (ISO 26262) and Cybersecurity principles.
