The Role: 

As a Stamping Tool & Die Supervisor at Ford Oakville, you will do all that and more. We are investing to expand the Ford Oakville plant to produce the legendary F-Series Super Duty pickup truck. This role will require you to leverage your skills and experience to drive a culture of excellence, focus, and collaboration. As Tool & Die Supervisor will oversee the repair and preventative maintenance of machine shop tools, gauges, fixtures, jigs and dies. You will also be responsible for ensuring departmental productivity, quality, safety, and cost targets are achieved for all stamping dies on your shift. 

What you'll do...

The primary responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Mentor and coach safety, quality and productivity to ensure objectives are met through following standardized work
  • Lead skilled trades, tool and die makers to evaluate die readiness requirements for maintaining and improving production yields, output, and up time while adhering to budgetary limitations and time constraints
  • Coordinate and schedule resources and materials, requesting overtime authorization when required to meet maintenance requirements to minimize down time
  • Responsible for monitoring day-to-day production processes, draw panel formability, last hit process, contamination investigation
  • Enforce health and safety rules in compliance with government, industry, and corporate standards
  • Coordination of Safety Operating System activities including overhead safety, lifting, and rigging and Energy Control and Lockout procedures
  • Determine and correct root cause of related downtime issues
  • Leads problem solving meetings to help eliminate ALL downtime
  • Mentor and teach die maintenance troubleshooting techniques to improve mean time between failure and repair
  • Generate and implement Cost Savings and Process Improvement suggestions
  • Basic administration of supervisory responsibilities and documents including time keeping

You'll have... 

Education:

  • Has satisfactorily completed an apprenticeship training course in the trade concerned and has obtained a Certificate of Qualification (CofQ) 430A (if a Certificate of Apprenticeship has not been attained, applicants with 8 years of experience in the trade after receiving the Certificate of Qualifications (CofQ) (430A) will be considered)


Experience

  • 3 years of experience in a supervisory role.
  • Experience troubleshooting die issues in tandem presses and transfer presses.
  • Must be able to work all shifts work and weekends as required.
  • Immediate and confirmed eligibility to travel to the United States for mandatory training for up to two weeks at a time.

Even better, you may have...

  • Experience working in an automotive heavy stamping facility.
  • Experience tig welding with tool steel.
  • Blue light scanning experience.
  • Aluminum stamping experience.
  • Root cause and problem-solving experience.
  • Proven experience in home line commissioning of stamping dies or tooling, performing internal try outs, troubleshooting issues during initial run, and making necessary adjustments to meet production specifications.
  • General knowledge of Forming Limit Diagrams (FLD).
  • Understanding and expertise in draw die forming, maintenance of beads, trim steels, and pierce operations.

This posting is for an existing vacancy within our team.

The expected annual salary range for this position is $85,000.00 - $135,000.00 and individuals may be eligible to participate in our Annual Compensation bonus program.


Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of degree completion for the highest level of education attained.  If the degree was obtained from a school outside of Canada, an Education Credential Assessment report showing Canadian equivalency is also required.
