Shape the Future of Manufacturing with ATP
At Ford, we aren’t just building vehicles — we are redefining how the world moves. Within the Advanced Industrial Technology and Platforms (ATP) organization, we are the architects of Ford’s next industrial revolution.
Our mission is clear: we build and scale industrial platforms, technologies, and capabilities that unlock Ford Firsts to drive sustained competitive advantage in manufacturing. Driven by our vision to "build once, scale everywhere," we bridge the gap between cutting-edge technology and global physical deployment.
Our guiding mantra is simple yet relentless: Scale what matters, win what's next.
If you are a high-tech builder, thinker, or innovator who thrives at the intersection of software, hardware, and massive scale, ATP is where you belong. Join us, and write the next chapter of industrial history.
In this position...
Ford's Advanced Industrial Technology & Platforms (ATP) organization is leading a historic industrial transformation — scaling EVs, advanced robotics, additive manufacturing, AI vision, and digital platforms into one seamless operating system. As part of ATP, the Sight Vertical is building an end-to-end business around AI/ML anomaly detection products, spanning image-based detection (Vision) and parametric data-based detection (Sense).
As a Staff Product Manager, Vision, you will contribute to the broader product strategy and execution for Ford's Vision and Sense product lines, acting as the bridge between Ford plant customers and technical teams. You will define the “what” and the “why,” translate factory-floor problems into clear technical requirements, and drive products from discovery through pilot and scale. You will also represent Vision-specific needs to the Core Vertical, helping define the platform capabilities and data/ML requirements that image-based products depend on—leading through influence across data science, engineering, manufacturing, quality, and plant operations.
Location: Dearborn, Michigan. Hybrid is expected, with periodic global travel to Ford manufacturing sites across NA, EU, and IMG.
What you'll do...
- Contribute to the product strategy and multi-release roadmap for the Sight vertical, aligned to the broader ATP enterprise direction.
- Lead customer and stakeholder interviews at Ford plants to identify high-value problem statements (e.g., visual defect detection, safety anomalies, quality escapes) and translate them into clear, prioritized product requirements.
- Partner with data science and engineering teams to define semantic layers, labeling strategy, and model performance criteria needed for image-based anomaly detection models.
- Own and prioritize the vision/sense product backlog based on ROI, plant “pull,” technical feasibility, and alignment to program milestones (TRL/MRL/IRL gates).
- Define and monitor product KPIs such as detection accuracy, false-positive/negative rates, OEE impact, scrap/warranty reduction, and deployment lead time.
- Establish standardized customer feedback loops to monitor product health, adoption, and value realization post-deployment.
- Partner with the sight/sense launch teams to launch products are “factory ready,” support zero-integration deployment into the Ford Production System based platform, and compress deployment cycle time from pilot to scaled rollout.
- Serve as the primary Sight vertical interface to the Core platform, identifying and articulating platform capabilities, data models, and ML/infrastructure requirements that image-based products need—helping shape the core infrastructure required for Sight and build shared platform roadmaps so they serve Sight use cases effectively.
- Drive the evolution of vision and sense products from standalone detection toward prescriptive, closed-loop capabilities connected to FPS issue-resolution and maintenance workflows.
- Communicate product strategy, progress, and value delivered clearly to Sight Vertical leadership, plant stakeholders, and cross-functional partners.
You'll have...
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related technical field.
- 5-8+ years of experience in product management, with direct experience owning development, deployment, and scale of AI/ML or industrial technology products.
- Strong fluency in the AI/ML product lifecycle: data strategy, model performance metrics, anomaly detection concepts, and MLOps deployment.
- Demonstrated experience in manufacturing or industrial operations environments, with direct exposure to plant floor, maintenance, or quality engineering contexts.
- Strong ability to translate complex image-based data concepts into clear business and technical requirements.
- Understanding of network and hardware/software architectures relevant to industrial AI/ML deployment.
- Experience with Agile/SAFe product delivery and tools such as Jira, Rally, or equivalent.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including experience engaging manufacturing leadership and cross-functional technical teams.
- Experience articulating platform and infrastructure requirements to a shared/central engineering team (e.g., Core Vertical) on behalf of a product line's needs.
- Strong global collaboration experience across NA, EU, and international manufacturing organizations.
- Willingness to travel globally to Ford manufacturing sites as needed.
Even better, you may have...
- Master's degree or PhD in Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or Technical Product Management.
- Experience with AI/ML industrial products, including computer vision, machine vision inspection, or process quality anomaly detection at scale.
- Knowledge of automotive/manufacturing system integration and digital twin frameworks.
- Familiarity with IP creation, data governance, and platform/product commercialization frameworks.
- Automotive, aerospace, or other high-complexity manufacturing background.
- Experience navigating a matrixed corporate environment, managing influence across engineering, commercial, and operations stakeholders without full direct-line authority.
- Exposure to parametric data-based detection (Sense) concepts, to support future convergence of Vision and Sense into a unified Sight anomaly-detection ecosystem.
