Plant Vehicle Team (PVT) Engineers are part of Ford Motor Company's Product Development organization and co-located at the vehicle assembly plant with the vehicle manufacturing team. The PVT Engineer has key responsibility regarding product quality.
This position is within the Ohio Assembly Plant (OHAP) Underbody Systems Engineering (UNSE) PVT Team. UNSE includes components in brakes, steering, driveline, transmissions, suspension, and wheels & tires.
Own cascaded functional external quality objectives (R/1000 and CPU).
1. Lead and oversee Issue Resolution and Insights System (IRIS) warranty binning and analysis.
2. Contact dealers and fleet customers, review part returns, and analyze data as needed to establish root cause.
3. Work with larger problem-solving team to contain identified issues before they leave assembly plant.
4. Work with larger problem-solving team to establish root cause. Define real and effective long-term corrective actions.
5. Document problem solving progress using Single-Issue Management & Problem Solving Nexus (SIMPSN) system.
6. Support 6 Sigma project development and coordinate plant input on all issues requiring deep dive analysis for resolution
7. Support and present issue findings in general plant quality meetings, Functional Quality Reviews (FQR), Director Quality Reviews (DQR), and Vehicle Quality Reviews (VQR).
· Support cascaded internal quality objectives with the Variability Reduction Team (VRT) manufacturing co-leads.
8. Provide Incoming Quality (IQ) with any guidance needed for part measurement and drawing interpretation.
9. Support VRT "GEMBA" process walks to reduce internal fallout.
10. Support plant FTT improvements through process, supplier, or design changes
· Support any needed Stop Ship action to advise severity, coordinate subject matter experts, establish containment, and prepare any needed repair procedures. Interface with Ford internal Critical Concern Review Group (CCRG) as needed.
What you'll do...
Change Management
· Lead in-plant trials for design driven changes and assess impact on quality and production.
· Lead in-plant trials for supplier driven changes and assess impact on quality and production.
· Provide in-plant trial feedback as part of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) completion.
· Support Launch Team for major launches prior to OK to Buy (OKTB) and follow-through on any needed post OKTB issue resolution.
· Lead identified minor launches as agreed with functional and plant team leadership.
You'll have...
· Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (or similar)
· 3+ years experience in Program, Product Development, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering
Even better, you may have...
· Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
· Six Sigma trained desirable
· Proven ability to solve difficult problems in high energy environment
· Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop technical teams.
· Excellent leadership, teamwork, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.

This position is a salary grade 5 through grade 8. Salary can range from $65,100-$166,200.
Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
