What you'll do...

Lead the Incoming Quality team members across all shifts, both salary and hourly, to drive Supplier Quality Concerns, ensure Chargebacks are submitted, and Containment actions are put in place to cut quality concerns off and protect our customers and production areas.

Lead the Pre-Production Approval Process (PPAP) hourly team members across all shifts, to ensure trial runs are conducted and work with MP&L department on approval process.Support the plants Contamination Reduction Strategic plan.

Represent Quality department, working with the Production Areas, STA, and Suppliers on a daily basis.

Incoming Quality 

  • Track Supplier Concerns and GSAR QR's to closure, including 8D completion 
  • Meet with Suppliers to ensure proper closure for quality concerns.
  • Work with Production areas and review supplier parts on red tables, ensuring IQ team is informed of latest issues
  • Develop a process to review supplier components that are at high risk for quality defects that result in both FTT and Customer Concerns (VO Repairs/Pull/Warranty Claims).
  • Coordinate with team on form 1 chargebacks, ensuring costs associated with off-standards, sorting, etc are properly captured 
  • Ensure components placed on reject are dispositioned in timely manner, before 30 day window 
  • Work with MP&L Material Handling to ensure rejected components are correctly handled and contained.
  • Manage Containment crib and CMMS open rejects 
  • Lead communication of Quality Concerns to plant floor level, ZCC boards, utilizing heat maps.

PPAP 

  • Ensure PPAP Functional trials of supplied parts are conducted in timely manner. 
  • Communicate with MP&L/Change Control about upcoming product / process changes and cascade to the affected work teams to ensure alignment and support weekly Change Control Meeting 
  • Maintain PPAP Crib inventory, and facilitate with MP&L department to get approved parts moved
  • Ensure dock audits are coordinated for new product launch engines and issue PSW to Vehicle Operations as necessary 

Contamination Reduction Strategic Plan 

  • Support the plant's Internal Audits related to Contamination Investigations 
  • Participate in review of Contamination test results at CEP and externally 
  • Participate in review of contamination from in-process failures (OCLT, CCLT, other leak tests) 
  • Maintain and update Contamination Tracking deck/library 
  • Facilitate communication across departments within the plant to address contamination and resolution of issues. 
  • Work with plant personnel and/or suppliers to ensure timely response to identified contamination concerns 
  • Support internal lab with reviews of borescope findings and contamination reviews 

You'll have...

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3-5 years of supervisory and / or manufacturing experience within Quality.
  • Working knowledge in Microsoft: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to work rotating shifts and hours, including nights and weekends
  • Experience with problem solving skills, G8D, 5-why, Six Sigma
  • Experience with reading prints and Ford Docman system 
  • Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism in difficult and stressful situations 
  • Two-way communicator who actively listens to hourly team members, leaders, business partners and customers
  • Highly committed to continuous improvement, while applying innovative solutions with a customer first mindset
  • Create a culture of safety and apply and implement workplace policies
  • Administer the CBA (collective bargaining agreement) consistently and effectively
  • Values different opinions & is open to ideas & perspectives from others 
  • Capable of assigning work to unionized hourly workforce and holding employees accountable for following processes pertaining to daily work assignments in terms safety, quality, and throughput

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Safety and Quality experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Knowledge of constraint management principles
  • Prior experience managing a unionized work force
  • 3D model experience is a plus

This position is a salary grade 8 and ranges from $99,100-$166,200. 

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
