This role connects tool design with CNC machining operations, ensuring that complex die components—such as draw dies, trimming tools are machined safely, efficiently, and to high-quality standards.

The position requires hands-on experience in CAD/CAM programming, strong knowledge of die manufacturing processes, and the ability to collaborate across design, machining, and tryout teams

1. NC Programming & Toolpath Development

  • Create and optimize 3-axis, 3+2 axis, and 5-axis CNC 3D & 2.5D programs using Tebis CAM.
  • Apply efficient machining strategies such as high-feed and high-performance cutting to reduce cycle time and tool wear.
  • Support specialised processes wherever applicable.

2. CAD & Surface Preparation

  • Prepare and refine CAD surface geometry for manufacturability using Tebis.
  • Incorporate material behaviour factors such as thickness variation and springback into toolpath calculations.
  • Implement surface adjustments based on design data or tryout feedback.

3. Simulation & Verification

  • Perform virtual machining simulations to validate toolpaths and avoid collisions.
  • Ensure safe and reliable operation for automated or unattended machining.

4. Standardisation & Process Improvement

  • Develop and maintain NC templates and standard machining strategies.
  • Standardise tooling, machining parameters, and workflows to improve consistency.

5. Reverse Engineering & Tryout Support

  • Work with 3D scan data to align modified dies with CAD models.
  • Update digital models and support re-machining for design corrections.

6. Collaboration & Documentation

  • Generate setup instructions, tooling lists, and process documentation.
  • Collaborate with design, machining, and tryout teams to resolve issues and improve outcomes.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree, diploma, or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or Tool & Die.
  • Experience in CNC programming for die manufacturing (typically 10+ years preferred).

Technical Skills

  • Strong experience with Tebis CAD/CAM
  • Knowledge of multi-axis CNC machining and machine controllers in Okuma 5 axis & Tilt 3+2 axis.
  • Deep understanding of sheet metal forming processes (drawing, cam trimming, rotary cam flanging).
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
  • Familiarity with surface finishing requirements, including Class-A surfaces, is advantageous.
  • Built on one bold idea and the passion to define sustainable transportation for generations to come, Ford is a story about people with a vision that’s still being written.
