Powertrain Business Operations & Commercial Strategy Specialist
We made history and now we work to transform the future – for our customers, our communities and our families. You'll see your work on the road every day, helping people move freely and pursue their dreams. At Ford, you can build more than vehicles. Come build what matters.
In this position...
We know firsthand how demanding and vital frontline automotive work is. Whether you have spent years leading dealership fixed operations, managing wholesale parts channels, or driving performance across an OEM field zone, you have developed deep, hard-earned expertise on how the automotive business truly functions on the ground.
This role offers the opportunity to bring that valuable operational background into a central, strategic advisory position. Here, your frontline understanding directly shapes enterprise-level commercial strategy across our entire national network.
Operating with the mindset of an internal business consultant, you will become the expert on the data and market forces that drive our Powertrain and Aftersales business. You will work shoulder to shoulder with business owners, wholesale distributors, and division leaders. By developing a comprehensive, big-picture understanding of the business, you will translate operational data into strategic clarity. You will help business leaders decide where to invest, when to pivot, and how to drive sustainable commercial growth.
What you'll do...
- Strategic Business Advisory and Enterprise Consulting
- Act as an Internal Consultant: Partner directly with FCSD business owners and leadership to understand their operational priorities. Act as a trusted advisor who uses commercial insights to challenge assumptions and uncover growth opportunities.
- Connect Data to Real-World Execution: Master the numbers governing sales performance, distributor stock levels, core returns, and Repair Order (RO) cycle times. Translate operational metrics into clear strategic narratives that explain what is happening, why it is happening, and where we should steer the business next.
- Drive Business Transformation: Guide initiatives that optimize wholesale throughput, resolve supply chain bottlenecks, and accelerate vehicle service turnaround times across our national footprint.
- Market Intelligence and Commercial Strategy
- Guide Strategic Pivots: Evaluate market demand, distribution velocity, and inventory alignment. Advise business owners on optimizing both legacy ICE platforms and emerging EV powertrain components.
- Competitive Benchmarking: Analyze powertrain service models, parts availability, and pricing structures against OEM and aftermarket competitors to ensure Ford maintains a decisive commercial edge.
- Champion Operational Innovation: Identify, evaluate, and help implement modern tools, automated analytics dashboards, and operational playbooks that make dealer and distributor networks more agile, efficient, and profitable.
- Executive Storytelling and Change Enablement
- Influence Without Direct Authority: Synthesize complex commercial metrics into executive-ready business cases and actionable roadmaps that build consensus among cross-functional stakeholders.
- Bridge Strategy and Frontline Reality: Leverage your practical automotive background to ensure corporate strategies are commercially viable, practical, and readily adopted by dealer networks and wholesale partners.
You'll have...
- Bachelor's degree
- 3+ years of experience in automotive commercial operations, such as OEM field operations (Zone Manager, Business Development Manager, Parts/Service Field Manager), dealership management (Fixed Operations, Parts, Service, General Management), or wholesale parts distribution.
- 2+ years of experience navigating "white space" projects—demonstrating flexibility, managing ambiguity, and help establish structure and processes in undefined or rapidly evolving business environments.
Even better, you may have...
- An Entrepreneurial and Consultant Mindset: Demonstrated ability to evaluate business operations, identify root causes of performance gaps, and propose practical, high-impact commercial solutions.
- Commercial Acumen and Data Fluency: Comfort navigating business data (sales volume, wholesale turns, margin analysis, inventory metrics, or RO cycle times) to extract actionable strategic insights.
- Influencing and Communication Skills: Proven ability to build trusted partnerships with business leaders, present compelling business cases, and guide teams through operational change.
- Prior FCSD or OEM Field Leadership Experience: Background as an Ownership Zone Manager (OZM), Business Development Manager (BDM), CPWD Zone Manager, or in Parts Supply and Logistics.
- Dealership Fixed Operations Mastery: Deep familiarity with dealership service and parts workflows, technician productivity, warranty versus customer-pay dynamics, and wholesale parts distribution (PTD, CPWD, IRF).
- Business Intelligence and Data Visualization: Experience utilizing tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or advanced Excel to synthesize trends and tell compelling visual stories with data.
- Powertrain and Aftersales Domain Knowledge: Understanding of powertrain assemblies, remanufacturing processes, ICE/EV component lifecycles, and core supply loops.
- Cross-Functional Change Leadership: Experience facilitating operational process improvements, digital tool rollouts, or new commercial program launches.
