Software Engineer

Ford Credit Europe’s Ford Finance application is currently one of FCE’s unique selling points that allows us to offer even more to our Ford dealerships in the form of an in-dealership financing tool. The FCE Dealer space was created to be a one-stop-shop to service our dealerships around Europe and create the software to support, simplify and modernise their daily business activities. Previously there were several legacy applications that have been completely replaced as part of the Core Modernisation program with Ford Finance, which is now made up of three main back-end applications (Business E-Commerce Eco-System, Alfa Abstraction Layer, Risk Management Services). 

Ford Finance has major expansion planned for 2026 onwards to enhance our banking capability with a modern technical solution that can not only handle existing products and services but also provide leading edge digital capability and operational efficiency with the tools to manage the business day-to-day to grow and innovate into the future. 

The Software Engineer role will have overall responsibility of the lifecycle of the existing team backlog, as well as adapting to changing market needs as the product is rolled out to a wider audience. The role will also have opportunity to drive the establishment & execution of required work to facilitate the Ford Finance expansion and transformation.

• Experience piloting new technologies and designing implementation strategies
• Experience designing and implementing enterprise best practices regarding existing or new technology/tooling 
• Develop and maintain comprehensive solution architectures that meet business requirements and align with enterprise architecture standards.
• Design solutions that are scalable, reliable, secure, and cost-effective.
• Evaluate and select appropriate technologies, platforms, and frameworks.
• Create architectural diagrams, documentation, and specifications.
• Define integration strategies between different systems and applications.
• Experience using Test Driven Development (TDD) and Behaviour Driven Development (BDD)

Essential:

• 10+ years Software Engineering experience with current industry tooling, including the use of AI-assisted tools like Copilot CLI to accelerate development, streamline workflows, and drive efficient code refactoring
• Good command of Product Org Backlog management with associated tooling and best practices (Rally / Jira)
• Deep technical skills: Hands-on coding and debugging knowledge in Java
• Modern Test Automation: Strong expertise in API and end-to-end testing utilizing the RestAssured Java framework and Playwright (including advanced implementations leveraging the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and AI agents for intelligent automation)
• Behavior-Driven Development (BDD): Proficient in using Cucumber to deliver highly readable and executable acceptance testing
• GCP Expertise: Cloud Build and Cloud Run, Secret Manager, Pub/Sub, Schedulers
• Code Quality & Security Tools: Fossa, SonarQube, Checkmarx, Cycode, 42Crunch
• Strong team leadership: Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams, conduct code reviews, and support engineering best practices
• Proactive risk management: Identifying and mitigating technical risks early in the software development lifecycle
• Delivery focus: Consistent track record of meeting sprint goals and delivering high-quality, thoroughly tested code
