About the Role

As a key member of the Dealer Engagement & Experience Senior Leadership Team, the Senior Manager, Dealer Capability & Training holds a high-impact regional role responsible for advancing dealer performance, capability, and operational excellence across the International Markets Group (IMG).

Spanning over 100 dynamic and diverse markets, IMG represents a vital growth engine for Ford. The region encompasses MEA (Middle East & Africa), Australia & New Zealand, ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations), and APDM (Asia Pacific Direct Markets). In this role, you will lead the overarching capability strategy to transform retail network performance, align dealer workflows with Ford standards, and deliver world-class customer experiences across these varied and high-potential markets.

In this role, you will lead the strategic vision, design, and execution of our dealer training curriculum. You will directly manage a team of 4 in India while overseeing a network of 10+ training consultants across the region. As a specialist in modern instructional design and Dealer operations, you will ensure that all training programs align with key corporate priorities and directly drive measurable value and business results for Ford and our Dealer/distributor network.

Reporting directly to the Dealer Engagement and Experience Director, this role is based in our Richmond, Victoria office with a hybrid working arrangement (4 days in-office). Regular domestic and international travel is required.

  • Strategic Curriculum Design: Design, implement, and continuously evolve a comprehensive, business-aligned dealer curriculum across core modalities, including product & soft skills, on-demand (digital), and in-Dealer (practical/face-to-face) training that delivers measurable value for our markets and Dealers.
  • Content Development & Modernization: End-to-end design of training programs and overseeing implementation by measuring the training effectiveness and quality across all core pillars (Sales, Service, and Customer Experience). Introduce modern learning methodologies, including micro-learning, gamification, and virtual/interactive delivery.

  • Team Leadership & Capability Building: Provide guidance, coaching, and strategic direction to market academy directors, training specialists, and internal training academy teams on training curriculum and delivery.

  • Ford Guest Experience (FGE) Program Leadership: Direct the strategic evolution, implementation, and process framework of our IMG FGE Program to drive process consistency and guest-centricity across the dealer network. Continually adapt the program to align with emerging business priorities, shifting market maturity levels, and oversee the management and optimization of all associated program technologies and digital tools.

  • Supplier & Vendor Management: Lead, manage, and collaborate closely with a network of external instructional designers, content suppliers, creative agencies, and trainers, ensuring they deliver quantifiable value for our business and Dealers. Direct the end-to-end development, translation, and localization of digital and physical learning experiences.

  • Regional & Global Governance: Lead and manage all training-related regional and global governance processes. This includes the end-to-end preparation of strategic materials, business cases, and performance updates for executive leadership reviews, steering committees, and Dealer committees.

  • Overall Budget Management: Direct and manage the regional dealer training budget. Ensure strategic allocation of financial resources, monitoring return on investment to drive value and cost-efficiency.

  • Process Optimization / PDCA: Establish and maintain efficient processes (including Training Needs Analysis and Learning Needs Analysis) to ensure learner journeys remain up to date, minimizing development costs while maximizing speed-to-market and quality for training materials across multiple markets.

Must Haves 

  • Dealer Operations Expertise: Deep knowledge of automotive dealership operations, departmental workflows (Sales, Service, Parts, Finance), and key retail business drivers. Direct dealer-facing experience is essential.
  • Curriculum & Instructional Design Mastery: Proven expertise in designing and executing end-to-end learning solutions using educational theory, adult learning principles, and modern instructional design to maximize training ROI.

  • Strategic & Analytical Skills: Demonstrated ability to navigate complexity and keep teams aligned with strategic priorities by designing measurable learning objectives and linking training outcomes directly to business impact.

  • Team Leadership: Proven track record of leading, coaching, and mentoring large (>10) and culturally diverse teams—leveraging deep market knowledge to constructively challenge, uncover root causes, and drive high-value business outcomes.

  • Communication & Collaboration: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to consult, influence, present and collaborate effectively with senior leadership and regional stakeholders.

  • Mobility: Willingness and flexibility to undertake regular domestic and international travel across the region.

Advantageous 

  • Education: A bachelor's or master's degree in education, Instructional Design, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field.

  • LMS/LXP Experience: Familiarity with modern learning management systems, learning experience platforms, or AI-driven digital learning tools. Experience leading the rollout or migration to a new global LMS is highly regarded.
