Job Summary

We are seeking a Manufacturing CFD Engineer to support the development of robust powertrain manufacturing processes using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). The role focuses on simulating thermal and fluid behaviour in manufacturing environments to improve process capability, reduce defects, and minimise reliance on physical trials. The engineer will work closely with product engineering, manufacturing teams, and suppliers to ensure design‑for‑manufacturing feasibility across powertrain components and systems

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to simulate and analyse manufacturing processes such as heat treatment, quenching, washing, cooling, and clean‑room or facility airflow.
  • Evaluate thermal behaviour of powertrain components during manufacturing, including cooling time, heat dissipation, facility HVAC impact, and part temperature effects on durability and quality.
  • Support Design for Manufacturing (DFM) by collaborating with product designers to optimise engine, transmission, and battery components for manufacturing conditions and contamination prevention.
  • Model fluid systems in manufacturing equipment, including coolant delivery, high‑pressure wash stations, and lubrication systems.
  • Perform virtual validation of manufacturing sequences to reduce physical prototypes, trials, and rework.
  • Conduct root cause analysis using CFD to resolve plant‑floor issues such as localised overheating, inadequate cooling, or fluid contamination.
  • Provide technical support to cross‑functional teams including Product Development, Manufacturing Engineering (Machining and Assembly), and external suppliers to ensure manufacturing feasibility of new powertrain methods and technologies.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.E. / B.Tech) in Mechanical, Automobile, or Production Engineering.
  • Master’s degree (M.E. / M.Tech) in Manufacturing Engineering, CAD/CAM, or Automotive Engineering is preferred.

Experience

  • 3–5 years of experience in automotive manufacturing, CAE, or CFD‑based simulation roles.

  • Built on one bold idea and the passion to define sustainable transportation for generations to come, Ford is a story about people with a vision that’s still being written.
