MP&L Obsolescence Analyst

  • The position requires lots of cross functional / regional coordination which gives sufficient exposure, but, at the same time is as challenging & interesting.
  • Regular touch point meeting with plant ECC to manage salvage activites.
  • Working with cross functional team including PD, STA , Purchase etc to find opportunity for diversion and salvage obso parts
  • Working with other MP&L plant lead for competing diversion opportunity between Ford plants
  • Interact with purchase to contain supplier obso claims and agree for final settlement

Balance out Study:

  1. Aligned with Changeover Plan, ensure that the Balance out study kicked-off 24/12 months prior to JL with all CFT to identify critical issues and steer through the team for resolution.

  2. Lead the End-to-End process including all the significant activities to ensure the smooth phase out of the model

  3. Monitor the progress of the phase out activities through structured meetings till the Job Last

  4. Publish the Management report outs of the overall Balance Out status for a program

  5. Track all BO actions as per the BO charter 

In-Plant Obsolescence

  1. Identify all Obsolete & potentially obsolete stocks arising out of Balance outs, PDLs & running Engineering changes are reviewed with Global commodity engineers (LVEA), PD/PVT, Suppliers, STA, Purchase, FCSD and Plant MP&L teams to identify opportunities of salvage by means of re-work/re-export/re-use opportunities in across all Ford region produced vehicle lines.

  2. Proactively engage with 

    1. Manufacturing plants ahead of implementation curve/Balance out dates to understand any potential opportunities to use stocks before implementation of change.

    2. New model Launch program teams to arrive at opportunities to re-use obsolete stocks.

    3. Sales Planning & Plant Operation planning teams to arrive at right volume lock plan for all future balance out programs & Obtain approval in Sales & Production control forums. 

  3. In the event of re-export, work together with SCM, Customs, Network logistics function, packaging & Finance teams for physical execution of shipment.

  4. As a Proactive measure, Analyze the root cause of high value parts turning potentially obsolete & aim to fix the issues at the origin

  5. Drive physical disposition on timely basis and write off obsolete inventory as per Finance manual.

  6. Involve Annual, Monthly finance forecast discussions to ensure the Obsolescence is within approved budget.

  7. Develop data analytics based solution using AI/ML tools to reduce obsolescence

Supplier Obsolescence

  1. Identify & exclude all salvage opportunities in a supplier claim before finalizing the Ford liability.

  2. Validate the supplier claim for accuracy in line with Ford obsolescence policy guidelines 

  3. Align Ford Purchase & supplier on the Ford liability.

  4. Ensure Supplier stock Physical / Digital audit as per Ford liability and maintain the evidences for Internal control audit.

  5. Ensure payment within the agreed time line

Education                    :          B.E. 

Professional Exposure: 

3 yrs + experience in any of the following:  Supply Chain Management (Preferred), Pre-Production Management (PPM), Supplier Constraint Mgt., Capacity Planning or Purchasing in Manufacturing/Engineering industry. 

Special Knowledge or skill required: 

  1. Knowledge in CMMS, WERS, BOM, Data mart.
  2. Supply chain & high-level Engineering change process knowledge is a must.
  3. Good analytical skills on data crunching is a must.
  4. Should have an overall knowledge on other cross functions teams (PVT, LVEA, Plant MP&L, STA, Quality & customs, network logistics, packaging, Trading companies, suppliers, Finance, etc)
  5. Automotive product knowledge is an added advantage.
  6. Automation skill sets like Power BI, VBA Script
  7. Working knowledge in Python. 
  8. Proficiency in using LLM, AI based tools for minor coding projects
