The America’s VO/PTO Site Process Manager (SPM) is the First Point of Contact (FPOC) when Site Management (SM) at America’s VO/PTO plants need assistance with issue escalation and resolution - FPOC for information gathering / dissemination to/from plants, e.g. for SM strategy and implementation.  The SPM is responsible for helping the sites to coordinate all IT services, including the planning, implementation and support of all IT systems and physical infrastructure.  

The SPM is the escalation contact for IT incidents – this includes 24X7 operations and support of critical business functions.   This position is a demanding, highly visible position that requires strong leadership and technical skills, and frequent off-hour, weekend, and holiday work.This role also requires on-site plant visits to Southeast Michigan plants multiple times per month and frequent visits to the plants outside Southeast Michigan.

What you'll do...

  • Assist manufacturing sites in coordinating and standardizing “Run and Protect” IT services at the site, including networks, servers, PCs, and applications.
  • Work onsite 1-2 days per week at a manufacturing plant to provide operational support and to learn the manufacturing IT business.
  • Escalate issues as appropriate to global support teams and provide on-site support to those teams and plants as required; this may include 24x7 operations and support of critical business functions.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation supporting 24x7 operational support for Critical and High incidents at all NA and SA manufacturing plants.
  • Keep IT leadership appraised of issues, business concerns, other significant events, and provide immediate notification of incidents impacting production.
  • Balance business needs, such as 24x7 operations, with IT priorities, such as deployment of critical patches.
  • Support major business and IT initiatives such as New Model launches, technology refreshes, equipment patching, and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Lead the team to coordinate IT services, including the planning, implementation, and support of IT systems and infrastructure.
  • Keep abreast of evolving business and IT policy changes (including security policies) to keep sites in compliance and prepare for audits.
  • Manage information gathering and dissemination to and from plants and central IT teams.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with global SPM teams, site IT teams, Plant IT managers, and central IT teams, serving as a value-add conduit between organizations.
  • Build and maintain a strong network of contacts across IT to understand priorities and trends and help drive issue resolution (e.g., ITO, PDO teams, OCIO, etc.).
  • Coordinate issues and effectively communicate with other regional SPMs.
  • Lead forums such as roundtable discussions with Plant IT colleagues to learn and share concerns, contribute to process improvement recommendations/implementations, and support initiative prioritization.
  • Provide remote support to NA and SA plants to assist Plant IT teams with processes, guidance, training, and audit compliance; provide on-site support as needed based on plant and business demand.
  • Use central resources such as intranet sites, OneNote, dashboards, and knowledge bases to research and respond to requests for information/assistance; only route work to plants when it cannot be completed centrally.
  • Monitor collaboration channels to address and escalate issues for plants (tool/platform as applicable).
  • Maintain schedules and email communications to ensure appropriate Plant IT support coverage, project expectations, alignment, and timely escalations; back up respective SPM peers when required.

You'll have... 

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of IT experience
    • Some prior manufacturing process and plant floor systems experience.
    • A variety of technical skills, including networks, PCs, servers, and relevant applications, are core to the site support model.
    • Advanced skills include an understanding of Ford plant floor applications, networks, and server environments.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management across IT, business, vendors, and union-represented resources.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism in all interactions.
    • Proven relationship management experience within Plant IT teams, central IT, business partners, and other stakeholders.
    • Develop and maintain competency in the business processes supported at the site.

  • Ability to multitask, handle multiple projects simultaneously, shift priorities as required, and work with limited direction.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of information security policies (ISP) and enforcing security and control compliance.
  • Project/program management experience for infrastructure and application implementations using a structured methodology.
